Kathe Wohlfart Nuremberg Christmas Market
I just had a family return from a Grand Canyon rafting trip with extra nights in Sedona that I booked for them. Here's a review of their trip and some photos. Anyone looking to book a trip to the Grand Canyon for next summer let me know as space on these trips are limited and spots do book up early.😀
Just a quick follow-up note from our vacation to let you know we had a great time. The Canyoneers rafting trip was just the right pick. You may recall we selected the Upper Grand Canyon that combined 3 days on the river with the stay at Phantom Ranch and the hike out on the Bright Angel Trail. In talking after the fact we thought that it was just the right mix, and that being on the raft to see the full river for 7 days may have been a little too much. The food was great, and we had a nice crew and raft mates, making the experience very enjoyable. It was pretty warm for the trip (106 the afternoon we were at Phantom Ranch!), but since it was dry we were able to sleep under the stars both nights we were on the river. We also were able to get on the trail to the rim pretty early, so while the last leg was hot (from the 3-mile rest area on), we were at the rim a little past 11:30 and beat much of the heat of the day.
The Hyatt at Pinion Pointe that you booked for us was a great property. The two bedroom condo unit was especially a hit with our 18 year old son Greg who appreciated having his own space after the time on the river, and after sharing a standard hotel room at the Holiday Inn with Cheryl and I in Flagstaff before and after the river trip.
In summary - we had a wonderful time. Thanks for your help in putting the package together for us.
All the best,
Dan
Surfing in Munich. Playing with Slo Mo on iPhone for 1st time. Kicks in after a few seconds and was pretty cool.
Throwback Thursday - 1973 Cross Country Vacation
Throwback Thursday! The trip that started me on my way to being a travel agent. These are pictures of our 1973 month long drive across the United States. Dad gave us a map and Mobil Travel Guide, told us he could drive about 500 miles in a day and he wanted to stop in Las Vegas. He let Craig and I pretty much plan most of this trip. Craig's 1st version of our cross country trip had us traveling from Maryland to Maine. That probably explains why I'm a travel agent and he now sells cars for Rosenthal Jaguar.
Oktoberfest 2017 - Hofbrau Tent Journey's Don't Stop Believin'...
More from my night in the Hofbrau Festzelt at Oktobefest 2017. This is from right in front of the stage with Journey's Don't Stop Believin' and Robbie Williams' Angels. In between, as the do every 3 songs or so is the Ein Prosit Toast to have a drink from your beer. I can't imagine how much beer is drank each time this song is sang across the festival. Fun Oktoberfest fact. Albert Einstein worked as a trainee for his uncle's electrical company who owned the Schottenhamel Tent (the tent where the 1st keg is traditionally tapped) to screw in light bulbs.
Oktoberfest 2017 - Hofbrau Tent - AC/DC
Oktoberfest, or My Happy Place, is right around the corner. Here's a video from my favorite tent, the Hofbrau Festzelt, with the Alois Altmann Band playing their nightly AC/DC set. Nothing better in the world than a good Hofbrau Beer and listening to AC/DC with 10,000 other people from around the world having a great time. And this is just inside one of the 13 main beer tents. Who wants to join me this year, Ein Prosit!!!
