One of the best times to visit the zoo is when it’s raining. You’ll avoid the crowds and can enjoy the animals that like the rain. 🐅🐅🐅 Say hello to mama Sumatran tiger and her two tiger kiddos at the Wild Animal Park (you’ll also find Malayan tigers at the zoo in Balboa Park, though you won’t be able to get as close). Take an umbrella and find those exhibits you might avoid on a busier day 🐼

While the ‘Balboa Park Administration Courtyard’ may not sound sexy, here’s a quick virtual tour of a mostly unknown spot that’s never crowded. This place is great for a romantic stroll or even a walking meditation. DIRECTIONS The courtyard is right next to the Naval Hospital Medical Center on Park Blvd. As for parking, set your GPS either for the Presidents Way parking lot, or park in the larger lot across the street (both of which are free). The courtyard is across the street from the Presidents Way Parking lot, adjacent to the Veterans Museum. Walk down Inspiration Point Way, (you can’t park here) look to your left and you’ll find it.
