The lone stranger is lone no more. Silver is home!! Now on familiar grounds. Ahh the memories, smells, sights, sounds, sensations, freedom and refugee of the road... Ahh the yearning for the open road. Will find some soon. Silver is not fond of cities.
Question remains- was that a trial run?? Who knows-hell
I don't
Live your dreams people. This is not a trial run...
Now I'm confused. Push those boundaries

Crossing Russia solo on a motorcycle. Its all so different here. I want to say strange but;
"People are strange when you're a stranger." Jim Morrison.

Mostly the country and small towns I have been seeing and people don't have much anywhere around here. Looks like that could soon be even worse. How to maintain such a large country. Its not really happening.

In Samara, Russia today. Taking a rest day. 3 days on 1 off seems reasonable. I'm going looking for a massage.

2500 kilometers to Novosibirsk where new tires await. About 4 days from here. Everything takes longer. Bad roads, construction, trains, wrong turns...
I've seen a few things... overhead and heading for the border.
I think I'll
"Keep on moving - Straight ahead." Who was that Spirit?

Not me in pic but I like it.

Kiev - Very moving place, my heart goes out after understanding what these people have been through. What they are going through... Ousted a Pro Moscow president in February. Imagine having a leader that allows his buddies to come in and take over. The people had to stand up and fight for their country. While their leader and crew killed over 200 resisters. Then he fled and has refuge in Russia. The situation is very complex. The people have suffered and seems they will continue.
I have to be a little cautious a I am about to go into and across Russia. I've developed bit of an attitude. Just seeing this place, seeing the pictures and seeing the people still standing guard in center of town ready to defend their country. The piles of bricks, tires wood. The people are a force There is a beautiful city somewhere under this mess. Very different that what I had been seeing. Pics later, (phone gone). What a mess over here.... Wish for peace.

Interesting indeed. Did not realize what a 3rd world this was. Reminds me of Yugoslavia 35 years ago. Border checked through eventually. Locals roadblock protesting held things up, but with a local biker club we off roaded through farmers field around it. One policeman waved me over at a checkpoint, when he realizes he couldn't even communicate a payout he smiled and waved me on. His time is better spent with the next guy. Many horses working with wagons hauling hay and people . Now this is starting to get real interesting!!

Getting back on the saddle after a great 4 days in Krakow Poland. Need to get ready for this next leg. Camping gear. Bike maintenance. Meditation Kent maintenance. Tighten up the program for the long haul to Mongolia.
Well things just got more interesting y'all now didn't they. Heading straight into Ukraine tomorrow. Kiev by Sunday. Staying to the north should be no problem, according to other moto wanderlusters. Just rough quiet open roads. Looking forward to it. Giddy up... naa.....

Been a while since I posted here. Have spent time in France, Countryside riding, Switzerland Alps are amazing. Innsbruck Austria, delightful and now in Northen Italy. All I want to do is, drink cappuccino, eat, ride the Dolamites and watch the people. Off to Budapest tomorrow. Last stop for Donna then it is solo on to Russia through Poland, Latvia and Lithuania. The second half is about to begin. Its been great having and sharing all this with Donna C. Davis. She's a trooper and has loved most of it. Not a fan of riding in rain, or on death defying mountain passes for days is understandable. Another cappucino or 3 before I leave please!

Some things I've learned:
Little time to write while traveling. As much as I want to. At least for now
Internet connections not so frequent while traveling
Motorcycling can simply be a means of transportation while soaking in the world
Technology creates too many choices when it comes to documentation or sharing insights and photos while traveling.. Blog, FB x,s two, go pro, I phone, Canon camera, tab III, laptop video. On and on... KISS principle needed here??
GPS complicates things yet is helpful. I still like good ol maps
People's kindness is beyond explanation.
My gratitude is enormous
Quickly it can all become about the people...

Zip across the USA.
Funny how we want to go far to know other worlds, people, culture, religions, landscapes... Many in the world come here. Like the grass is greener... Not so sure... here or there..
IT was a fast trip.
SF-Sierra Nevada mountains-Reno-Vast Nevada, Utah, Lovely Salt Lake. Then there is southern Wyoming and Nebraska (beef country) Iowa, Illinois, (corn country) on to the industry states of Indiana and Ohio. Pennsylvania was just lovely through the woods. New Jersey leads to NYC. Now that is another world of Hard and Fast. Frustration and way too many people on the roads. Glad to get out of there and off the motorcycle.
Now out of the USA and looking forward to exploring other worlds and peoples world. Eyes wide open I hope to stay...

Patience and acceptance required. Silver (my bike) did not get through US customs in NYC on Friday so will miss plane for Manchester on Monday.
I expect this is just a glitch that may hold bike up a week. Maybe touring Ireland by car ??? Gotta roll with the fact things do not always happen in Kent time...
Leaving Ky Tuesday and should be in the UK by Wed. Chomping at the bit to get back on the road.

1500 Miles in 36 hours! Qualifies for the Iron Butt Association 1500 Bun Burner. Certified and bonified Iron Butt! Kearney, Nebraska smack dab in central USA, cool college town . Met Stan who has done 140K on his Vulcan 1200 and signed off on the end of ride. Nice people. The baby antelopes were a highlight during the cold rain last half of WY today. Warm dry ending though. Its all good...

Pulled out of 1000 mi challenge at mi 820 last night in Evanston WY. Too dangerous too cold upper 40's. Hit one already dead animal, all after a misjudged fuel situation and ran out 30 mi from Salt Lake. Will go for the 1500 in two days. A few things to learn here. Learning is good...

Man O Man does it take a lot of planning, which I'm not the greatest at, to get life in order to embark on a Round the World motorcycle trip. Visa's, insurances, papers, motorcycle maintenance and extras, arrangements for shipping bike, shipping me. Make plans for management of my business, home, property, bills, water plants. Family matters. But hey! Its going to be worth it to simply ride my motorcycle around the world, in this lifetime. EYES WIDE OPEN! Hope it is the start of something. Haven't even left yet and already ready to take off again. I know me... Didn't early man wander around aimlessly? Feels like something primitive about this, but I doubt they had so much stuff. Scheduled departure May 28, 2014 12 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!! SF-NYC-KY-UK ??? All around the Alps, Across Russia Destination MONGOLIA 17,000 miles or thereabouts. Chomping at the bit!
