LAST CONCERT THIS SUNDAY 9/29

The FREE community-wide outdoor “MUSIC AT SKYPARK” concert series finishes its 15th season on Sunday Sept. 29 at Skypark in Scotts Valley.

This concert features The Shady Rest Band (playing “rock ‘n blues with strings attached”, complete with female lead vocals, violin, congas, guitar, bass and drums) from 1:30 to 3:00, and headliner Extra Large (funky grooves rooted in blends of classic rock, funk gyrations, Blues, reggae riffs and Latin beats) from 3:30 to 5:00. The all-volunteer Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley will once again put on this concert and dedicate all profits to the music and arts programs at local public schools. Kiwanis and local businesses will offer food, wine, beer and other concessions for sale. There will be kids’ activities and plenty of dancing. Music at Skypark from 1:30 to 5 on Sunday Sept. 29 at Skypark in Scotts Valley.

Valley Churches United is low on items in their food pantry and is looking for donations.

Hello wonderful neighbors and supporters!
Our Food Pantry is in need of some items for our every day Pantry bags. Often folks will ask what we need the most - at the present time we could really use donations of the following items:
Jam or Jelly, Cereal, Soup (canned & dry) and Mac n Cheese! If you're inclined to donate, any of these items are desperately needed!
Drop off Mon-Fri 9am-5pm @ 9400 Hwy 9 in Ben Lomond or after hours at the Ben Lomond Gas Station!
Thank you all for your continued support! We couldn't do any of it without our Donors ♥️

Wanted to give a big "Thank You" to the community for all of the support over our first few weeks of opening. It has been very rewarding to get to know the fish keeping community out here. Stay tuned for our Fishy Friday deals and the expansion of our pond section 🙂

This Wednesday's City Council Meeting, Council to Consider recommendations for Major Changes for Scotts Valley Drive. Options include change to one lane each direction, reducing lane width or other options to increase bicycle & pedestrian access.

The City aims to rehabilitate road pavement, reconfigure the existing road, improve multi modal access, and enhance safety for cyclists and pedestrians by incorporating complete streets elements. The project will evaluate the implementation of bicycle and pedestrian improvements in alignment with City staff discussions, the General Plan adopted in November 2023, and the Scotts Valley Active Transportation Plan (ATP) adopted in March 20, 2021.

Will also assess the feasibility of various road cross-sections as outlined in the ATP and guided by City direction. Potential corridor improvements include installing buffered or separated bike lanes, upgrading pedestrian facilities to meet current ADA standards, adding street beautification features, and implementing pavement improvements to optimize the roadway for enhanced functionality and longevity. 🔥 Erba Lane Fire Station 🔥

In 2018 and 2022, Scotts Valley Fire District had facility studies conducted on this station. Both studies concluded the Erba Lane Fire station has reached the end of its useful life, posing as a risk in the event of a natural disaster.

💡 2018 Facilities Study: "In a major seismic event, the building is a hazard to District personnel and is unlikely to serve the community."

💡 2022 Seismic Evaluation: The building is vulnerable to seismic damage, risking collapse and impacting our ability to serve you. Despite modifications, the station no longer meets current standards.

The Board of Directors is going out for a bond measure to secure a safer, more efficient fire protection system for the entire community, now and in the future.
