Timmy’s Town Center is an interactive children’s museum that officially opened to the public in mid-November 2009 at the Mall at Steamtown in downtown Scranton, PA. Its environment, exhibits and programs are designed to demonstrate what it means to live in, care for, and sustain a healthy community. Timmy’s Town Center is a member of the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM). The Timmy’s Town Ce
nter was founded in memory of Timmy Kelly, who was stricken with cancer and died at the age of five. Timmy loved the Philadelphia children’s museum, Please Touch; he and his family visited it quite frequently. While there, he never felt different, sick, or bald; he was simply a kid having fun – playing, learning and discovering. His impressions were our inspiration. Timmy’s Town Center is a museum for all children from all communities.
