We’re at the dock in Victoria, BC. Awaiting the start of the Victoria Classic Boat Show. We’re seeing lots of old friends, telling great boating stories, and really enjoying the company of other insane wooden boat owners. Frankly, they’re a great bunch of folks. The best actually!

The Swinomish Channel, or as I call it, "Scotty's Back-way", is always a fun trip. Scenic and interesting, the islands protect from wind and wave. Lovely!

Summer Wind, a WWII-era vessel with the elegance of a classic yacht.

Built between 1938-1940 for the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey, she has charted Alaska’s waters and served in the Aleutian Islands.

Now a lovingly maintained liveaboard in Seattle, Summer Wind is a true gem of maritime history.

Don't miss your chance to see her up close at the Victoria Classic Boat Festival from August 30 to September 1 at the Inner Harbour.
