PLAN FOR DAYTIME FULL CLOSURES AND SINGLE LANE RESTRICTIONS ON SR 89A IN OAK CREEK CANYON THIS SUMMER

The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising drivers, residents, and businesses to plan for upcoming daytime full closures on State Route 89A in Oak Creek Canyon from June 3-7, 5:00 am – 5:00 pm, between the switchbacks and the Oak Creek Vista area (mileposts 387-390). Between 5:00 pm – 5:00 am, the road will have one-lane restricted access with a traffic light.

Single lane restrictions will occur in the same area from June 10 through late August 24/7. Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes to get through the work zone.

There will be intermittent full closures of SR 89A between June 10 and late August when construction activities require it. ADOT will provide advance notice of the full closures.

BE PREPARED

Beautiful hiking weather for the rest of the week, with temperatures moderating down by 10 degrees starting Thursday. Sedona Fire has been busy on the trail systems with various calls for service. Simple ankle injuries are one of the most common calls for service. A good pair of hiking boots goes a long way to prevent injury. Always have a charged phone, know which trailhead you are departing from, and have plenty of water.
