Thanks to all of those that have donated to our Polar Bear jump fundraiser for the American Cancer Society so far! With y’all’s help I’ve made a ton of headway towards my goal, but still have a long ways to go! Rest assured, this will be no relaxing cold-water hydrotherapy. Wim Hof himself will be horrified at how undignified this Harbor water winter bath will be for me. It’s one of those “plug your nose, tuck in your fairy wings, and secure your tutu expecting the worst” sort of ice baths. Please consider donating!

Today we awarded our first yearly scholarship to a Seward High School Senior.

We believe keeping our donations local strengthens the community we live in, raise our children in and derive our income from. Whether its donating to the Seward Community Foundation, giving out a yearly scholarship or working with the Seward Prevention Coalition- giving locally pays the largest dividends and makes the largest impact.

In many ways, the last year was not good, but there's always silver linings, right? For many of us, the last year has encouraged us to take a step back from our routines, evaluate our lives from a macro perspective, and realign our priorities accordingly.

Over the last 20 years, our little adventure companies have grown from a two-man shop operating out of rented train car, to companies that have a beautiful dedicated facility in town and employ a talented and inspiring staff seasonally and year-round. It's an understatement to say that small-town Seward, Alaska has been incredibly kind to us, and the support we have found here is a large part of the reason that we are able to make a living exploring the outdoors and exposing others to the activities that we love.

We're finally in a position to start to return this kindness, so starting this year we are sponsoring several recurring charitable initiatives designed to give back directly to the community that has made the last two decades possible for our companies.

For the first of these initiatives, Exit Glacier Guides and Liquid Adventures are excited to offer a yearly scholarship to graduating local seniors who are continuing on to post-secondary education in pursuit of fields relating to outdoor industries, outdoor education, environmental studies and/or professional outdoor guiding. The scholarship is offered under the guidance and direction of the local school councillors, and will help inspire the future generation of outdoor enthusiasts who desire to make a career out of a passion for the outdoors.

Now looking for guides for the 2021 season! Exit Glacier Guides is the oldest mountaineering-focused guiding company in Seward, and we are looking to fill a few guide positions and office/logistics jobs for 2021. Typically, our hiring is super competitive for our guiding jobs, so get those applications in ASAP to make sure you're in the running. In spite of all the odds, we had a great, busy, and safe 2020 season and so we're looking forward to being even busier next year.
