Armed with this practical education experience, SCCTC students are better prepared to enter the workforce or to transition seamlessly into post graduate studies. A Medical Assistant is a professional, multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of the medical office under the direct supervision of a physician. Medical Assisting is a rapidly growing career and is expected to be one of the ten fastest growing career fields in the nation during the next decade. Medical Assisting is for the individual who is genuinely interested in helping others in a confidential & professional setting. This course offers entry-level training for those who want to work in a medical office or clinical setting performing clinical, receptionist and lab duties. Medical Assisting students learn to become multi-skilled employees who display professionalism, utilize communication skills and who assist physicians in providing patient care. Medical Assistant jobs are available in doctor’s offices, health care clinics, and certain hospital departments. Students also become employed in this profession while furthering their education in other health fields. More than 50% of students in this program continue their education at the college level. CSCC provides the opportunity to earn a Tech Prep scholarship totaling $2,400 for students who meet academic and attendance requirements.

2025 SENIORS - Have you ordered your (SR) uniforms yet? REMINDER: They must be ordered this week so you have them by the first day of school (which is required.) You also might want to consider a new pair of shoes, and as discussed at the end of school, it was suggested that they be all white, black, gray. (Shoes can be purchased anywhere!) Payment for your uniform is NOT required when you place your order.

Congratulations to Landon Williamson & Aleysia Gayheart. Both completed a 5 week (paid) internship at Springfield Regional Medical Center, and have interviews' scheduled for a permanent position. In addition, each received a $100 Meijer gift card from SOCHE. (SOCHE = Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education which connects students, educators, government, businesses, employers, and other organizations to share information, access professional development opportunities and close workforce gaps through increasing internships and research projects.)

The following students passed their CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) exam today through the NHA (National Healthcareer Association), the largest allied health certification agency in the US. Medical Assistants are critical members of healthcare teams in a variety of settings. They are often the first and last person a patient interacts with, making a lasting impact on the patient experience. MAs are flexible, performing a variety of tasks such as:
Taking vital signs
Assisting providers with exams & procedures
Administering injections or medications
Performing EKG, phlebotomy, and other essential lab procedures
Checking patients in and out upon arrival & departure, answering phone calls, etc

Surgical presentation-an annual event with MA and EMT seniors, and included NA this year. This included descriptions of multiple surgeries, role of surgical nurses and surgical tech, full surgical scrub and insertion of sutures (using a chicken leg!) Yesterday, we had the pleasure of having Crystal Hammonds speak to our MA, NA and EMT seniors about OB/GYN. Crystal is a certified nurse midwife, nurse practitioner and assistant professor at WSU. She covered so many things, and then did this activity to demonstrate contractions and how the cervix dilates for childbirth. Thank you for coming! We always enjoy your presentations!

Yesterday the SRS played a review game, racing to the board to see who can write the meaning of the term first. It got a little dangerous at times, trying to take the videos! (CHECK THE COMMENTS FOR MORE VIDEOS! ) They were having too much fun!🤣🤣🤣
