I love this article! River cruising on AmaWaterways (a company I highly recommend!), exposing kids to travel and the world, multi-generational travel and a hint of Disney (just the right amount)!

Just finished training with the Globus family of brands! I love learning about different tour and river cruise companies... I was really impressed with their commitment to local communities, environmental and humanitarian organizations. And Avalon Waterways has beds that face the view - how cool!!

My last post about my Azamara cruise is for any foodies out there! I thought the food was excellent - high quality, lots of variety, beautifully presented and easy to navigate any dietary restrictions.

Discoveries Restaurant (main dining room, the menu changes daily), Windows Cafe (casual restaurant w/themed dinners), Aqualina (Italian), Prime C (steakhouse), The Patio and Swirl & Top (grill and frozen yogurt bar by the pool), Mosaic Cafe (coffee and pastries), daily tapas in The Living Room… you won’t go hungry!

It wasn’t easy coming back home and having to cook meals again!

Day #5 - The ship overnighted in Livorno - a perk of Azamara are their more immersive itineraries. So we spent 2 days in the Tuscany and Liguria regions.

Our second day, we visited Florence and Pisa with another great tour from BellaItalia Tours! Unfortunately it was our one day of rain but still amazing cities to see!

Day #4 - We docked in Livorno and took an amazing tour of Cinque Terre with BellaItalia Tour Day Trips & Travel around Tuscany! Very beautiful area of Italy (and a bit crowded! April 25 is an Italian national holiday so that contributed to the crowds.)

Took the train between 4 villages - Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare.

We also drove past Carrara Italy and saw the marble quarries from the highway!

I loved Azamara!! We were on the Quest w/684 passengers...

It never felt crowded, the food and service were excellent, the staff were very friendly and overall it was a very relaxing cruise experience!

Azamara always includes many amenities: one night of complimentary specialty dining, drinks (including alcohol), tips and gratuities, self service laundry, bathrobe and slippers, tote bag, umbrella, turn down treats, complimentary internet, room service and 1 free bag of laundry service.

Day #3 - Santa Margherita, Italy! This is the only port where we had a tender to get to land. First we toured Santa Margherita (our guide told us where to get amazing focaccia!) and Rapallo on foot then we took a ferry to Portofino. Had some time to explore all 3 towns then back on the ship for the rest of the day. More photos of the ship to come!

Monaco at night! One of the things I’m liking about Azamara is the longer days they offer in port - we didn’t have to be onboard in Monaco until 9:30pm! And we are also overnighting in the port of Livorno, Italy (near Florence) offering 2 days to explore the area.

Port #2 - Monaco! Amazing (and fancy) country! Had an excellent walking tour - learned all about the history and culture of the world’s second smallest country. Saw preparations for the Grand Prix and the car collection of HSH Prince Rainier III.

Port #1 on our Azamara cruise - Marseille, France! Took a walking tour of the city - along the port and old town - tried Navettes (orange blossom biscuits) and chocolate made from olive oil. Also learned the Olympic Torch will be arriving in Marseille next month to start its journey through France!

Spending a couple days in Barcelona before heading out on an Azamara cruise! Explored the Gothic Quarter, Boqueria Market, Parc Guell and La Sagrada Familia.

We had to visit all things Magnolia while in Texas! If you are a fan of Chip and Joanna Gaines, Magnolia at the Silos in Waco is a must-see destination! We were here 7 years again and so much has changed.

We also stayed at another unique place in Round Top - the FlopHouze Hotel. With a husband that wants to build a container home, we had to stay here too! On the property of an architectural salvage yard, they've created really interesting "houzes" to stay in! And of course, more beautiful sunsets and wide open spaces!

Usually you think adults only when it comes to river cruising but Emerald Cruises is thinking outside the box and offering a family river cruise experience! I think this is a great idea for multi-generational vacations or if you have a kid interested in Europe. With excursions tailored to kids, I love this idea!
