When coming to Arizona for drop off, some things to consider:

1. Stay longer than you think.
Last minute errands sneak up and making sure your student has all they need to kick off this next chapter is important. The more time your child feels settled and not rushed, the easier transition will be
Also remember this is an important time for you, the family, to ease into drop off/saying goodbye. Having the time to plan for family dinners, family sightseeing, and togetherness that’s not rushed will help the family with this tough milestone of saying goodbye 😃

2. The heat can be tough.
Though August is not always the peak of summer heat, if you’re not used to it, you will be affected by it. DRINK A LOT OF WATER. Dehydration sneaks up on you. Most times you won’t realize that you were thirsty, but your body is losing moisture constantly because of the dry climate, and hydrating yourself is very important to keep yourself healthy and safe. Always be sure to carry water bottles even purchase liquid IV packets from Costco to keep on hand, to make sure that you are in top shape to battle the climate.

3. Consider renting a home vs a hotel.
Washing new towels and new sheets are always a great idea. Hotels either don’t have a service for Washington laundry, or they charge extra and if you are in time constraints, this could be an issue. Renting a home with a washer & dryer is to make sure everything going into the new living quarters is clean and ready to go!

Also having your own home altogether versus spread out in a hotel is a great idea. You want to be spending as much time together and celebrating this milestone. Things like preparing breakfast, late night, fire pitting, or a pool day in your own private pool should not be overlooked. This is your opportunity to be all together and a home feels more comfortable than a stuffy hotel.

💥 Just Announced 💥 The dates for ASU Family Weekend 2024! Families will celebrate Sun Devil spirit, pride and tradition on October 4-6. During a weekend packed with activities, you and your entire family will be able to experience an exciting weekend on campus alongside your Sun Devil.

As part of the festivities, registrants will be eligible to purchase reduced-priced tickets to attend the ASU vs. Kansas home football game on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Mountain America Stadium, Home of the Sun Devils. Registration for the weekend will open in early August.
