As one of the United States’ first cavalry commanders, there are many tales of Brigadier General Casimir Pulaski’s death and burial. Following the Siege of Savannah, Captain Samuel Bulfinch claimed Pulaski was taken to the Greenwich Plantation (modern day Bonaventure Cemetery) in Thunderbolt, Georgia, where he succumbed to injuries and was buried. But what about the monument in Monterey Square? In 1853, Pulaski’s remains were reinterred at the Casimir Pulaski Monument in Savannah, Georgia. (In a nutshell)
