A new season of movies at the Tee P*e Drive-In on Route 66!

The TeeP*e drive-in theater on Route 66 in Sapulpa opens for the season in about two weeks. The historic theater closed in 1999 and was abandoned for two decades until new owners took over the property. The second season since re-opening will kick on on April 4th with This is Spinal Tap.

Our William The Artist was so happy to get to talk with this great group of kiddos today about paleontology, museums and Route 66!

Dinosaurs are always a hit, as was the piece of petrified wood that they each got to touch, and try to pick up! None actually succeeded, they learned that petrified wood is really heavy!

Plus every one of them got to take home a real piece of petrified wood!

Thanks to all our guests for supporting DECOPOLIS, for that helps us with our educational outreach programs!

Fun fact. Did you know, that the petrified forest, just like DECOPOLIS, is on Route 66!

And another thing the kids loved learning. Birds are dinosaurs! Which means a hummingbird is actually a teeeeeny tiny dinosaur! 🦖

Tulsa's original Route 66 bridge!

Here is a beautiful image from our collection showing Tulsa's 11th Street Bridge. Opened in 1916 and later became part of historic Route 66. The bridge still stands but is no longer in use due to structural issues. There has been talk of raising funds to refurbish the bridge so that it can be used as a public walkway/park or attraction of some sort in the future.
