Preparing for the Settle Down yoga and writing retreat this weekend is an opportunity for me to delve dip into new books and old. 1000 Words collection is filled with so much wisdom that applies to writing, yoga, and beyond. John Lee’s book is one I used in 2005 (!) before I did yoga, before I published anything, and when I blew the dust off the pages, I realized I never knew what a gem I had on my shelf. Writing from the Body eventually brought me to yoga. And better writing. So yes, I’ve been cleaning and getting meals together, but also reading, planning yoga classes, writing workshops, and PLAYLISTS! (Playlists are my favorite.)

A small, quiet retreat is scheduled for March 8-10 here at Twisted Run Retreat. Each guest will have a private room and bathroom, a screen porch to sit on, kitchen access, and the freedom to walk the nature trails, journal, and settle down. Two meals are provided, with Saturday night’s meal prepared on site by a local professional chef. I’ll be offering two gentle yoga classes, suitable for beginners, and writing-focused activities. A little bit of Earth Day from Twisted Run Retreat. The 15 acres border Bluff Creek, and I am dedicated to preventing pesticides and herbicides from leaching into the creek water. My wildflower patch is taking hold (it can take a few years), my veg garden will be only flowers when the heat starts, and I’ve added native azaleas and American beauty berries (some bought, some dug up) around.
