On Saturday July 13, “The Commandant’s Own” closed out a weeklong celebration of our 90th Anniversary with a banquet hosted by “The Commandant’s Own” Alumni Association. D&B’s Brass Quintet performed during cocktail hour, followed by a short concert from our larger ensemble to kick off the evening. Hundreds of D&B Veterans and Active Duty Marines enjoyed hours of camaraderie as they shared stories and experiences from years past. We can’t wait until our 100th!

Today, Marines of “The Commandant’s Own” had the pleasure of hosting a discussion panel with veterans from the Drum Corps’ treasured and prestigious past. We were joined by MGySgt Jim O’Keefe, USMC (Ret.), MGySgt Kevin Buckles, USMC (Ret.), MGySgt Keith Martinez, USMC (Ret.), and LtCol Brent Harrison, USMC (Ret.). The panel focused on leadership and key moments from their tenured careers. We are truly grateful for the experiences and wisdom that were shared with our Marines today.
This event is part of a weeklong alumni celebration for “The Commandant’s Own” to commemorate our 90th Anniversary.
Tomorrow, Thursday July 11, we will host a concert that will also be live-streamed on our YT channel. The concert starts at 19:34 ET.

On July 4, Marines from “The Commandant’s Own” marched in the City Of Fairfax’s Independence Day Parade. The parade originally began in 1967 and has become the largest in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

On June 1, several Marines from “The Commandant’s Own” spoke at the 2nd Annual Loudon County Public Schools Marching Band Leadership Clinic held at Independence High School in Ashburn, Virginia. Our Marines provided a leadership seminar on “How to Run an Effective Sectional from Within the Ensemble” and performed a short concert for all the students and staff in attendance.
On Saturday June 8, “The Commandant’s Own” performed for the 3rd Annual Michael DiFrancesco Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation Gala in Atlantic City.

On Saturday May 25, “The Commandant’s Own” performed for the (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) Survivors Seminar Banquet Dinner. Today, Marines of “The Commandant’s Own” Percussion Section had the privilege of joining His Majesty The King’s Guard, of the Norwegian Armed Forces, in a drumming workshop. Both groups were able to demonstrate their talents, share their experiences, and learn about each other’s cultural drumming heritage. “The Commandant’s Own” is honored to perform alongside HMKG, and we look forward to our next chance to play together!

Seven of our own Marines represented “The Commandant’s Own” and Marine Barracks Washington at the regional Marine Corps Marksmanship Competition (MCMC) in Quantico, VA. MCMCs provide an opportunity to refine the fundamental skills that make a Marine lethal on the battlefield and able to deliver lethal force in a dynamic environment in accordance with the Marine Corps Rifle Marksmanship Lethality Capabilities-Based Assessment. Thank you to all who joined us today for the Col Truman Crawford Tribute Ceremony at Marine Barracks Washington. We know that there was an issue with the live stream, so we wanted to get the recording taken after the stream was cut posted here. Some notable moments include the unveiling of Col Crawford's updated medals (3:20) as well as an all new tribute video (4:00). Speeches were delivered by MSgt David Cox and MGySgt William Rulapaugh, who is the only active duty Marine currently serving who served alongside Col Crawford.
After a successful six weeks of training and performances in Yuma, AZ and throughout the Pacific Northwest, we are back home and excited to begin parade season soon!
