The Kettering 50th Anniversary will try to take you through all aspects of the Kettering experience. We don’t want visiting alum and former staff members to just tour the building, we want them to use it. Waterford Kettering’s 50th Anniversary Schedule of Events

Friday June 22
1-5 PM
Registration: The purpose is to let others who may know you that you are in Waterford and where and how you can be reached.
1-5 PM
Continuous play of Kettering DVD in Farah-Miller Kiva: The Dvd features a tour of the building directed by Ken Frenkel and Hal Farah who reminisce in addition to the tour. Also included is a panel discussion that includes Ken, Hal, Jan Meagher, Susan Steigmeyer, Willis Garratt, Patty Kent, and Mike Roemensky. They relate stories involving Kettering’s past. The DVD can be purchased as part of the 50th anniversary profile history book.

Rehearsal for alumni concert (The exact time is not yet determined): All Kettering band, orchestra, and choral performing arts alumni are invited to participate. This is an opportunity for those who never had the chance to perform in a real auditorium while they attended Kettering to say, “I performed in Kettering’s second to none Performing Arts Center.” For more info, contact Hal Farah at [email protected] or visit the “WHKS Anniversary Alumni Concert” face book page. Pancake Breakfast: This is a fund raiser, as well as an opportunity to make contact with both past and present Kettering staff, as well as visit with classmates from the past.

Taping of anniversary wishes and “I am Kettering” DVD: Alumni and staff are invited to contribute their thoughts and memories to an oral history of Kettering’s past 50 years.

Commemorative ceremony: As part of the anniversary celebration, Jim Larkin and Tom Bryce will be honored by having the football and baseball fields named after them. Weather permitting, the ceremony will take place on the Kettering football field.

Open swim for all attendees (Proper swim attire required).

Anniversary ceremony and alumni concert: The performance will be emceed by Ken Frenkel in Kettering’s performing Arts Center. Sunday June 24

Golf outing fund raiser for Larkin/Bryce commemoration at the Fountains Golf and Banquet Center on Maybe Road in Clarkston: Besides golfing, the afternoon will conclude with a buffet dinner and silent and live auctions. The cost is $100/person. For dinner only, the cost is $20. Awards for first and second, as well as for longest drive and closest to the hole. Whether you are able to come to the celebration or not, we are also offering a Kettering alumni book that has stories written by Brian Wilson’s AP Language Arts and Journalism students. The book includes a DVD put together by Jesse McLean’s video class, WKHS-TV, that also includes a video tour of the building led by Ken Frenkel and Hal Farah. The cost of the Book/DVD combo is $30.
