Fromer band director, George Fetter will be attending the celebration. It would be great to see the many students he mentored at Kettering to greet him on that day. Better yet, it would be best if all who admired him joined our alumni chorus, band, and orchestra groups which will perform during the event. Last Tuesday was one of those magical nights that brought into focus just how incredible the Waterford community really is. That was the night we saw about 200 Kettering alumni, staff, and students at the 50th anniversary book release party. If you'd still like to grab a copy of the book/DVD, bring or send a check (only $30!) to Kettering. Kirk Gibson couldn't make it, but here's a preview of his page!

Well, the 50th anniversary books have arrived and look incredible. The books and commemorative Kettering DVDs will be unveiled and available to pick up or purchase at our celebration event, Tuesday May 1 at 6:00 pm in the Kettering cafeteria. Please join us to meet the authors and hang out with some illustrious Captains alumni! Refreshments will be served! If you have purchased a book, you can pick it up that night. If you'd still like to order, you can send a check or cash to room 501, or bring payment to the celebration. Books will be $25 through the end of the May 1 event, and $30 after that. Hope you can join us!

Soon, we will be posting a three day agenda for the celebration. It will include an alumni performance by choral, band, and orchestra alumni, the free use of the pool, tours of the building, a commemoration assembly honoring Tom Bryce and Jim Larkin for their multiple contributions to making Kettering better, a golf outing to raise funds for building improvements, and visits with past and present teachers whose names will be posted as they announce they will be attending. There will be many other activities as well. We invite alumni and their children and/or grandchildren to use our performing arts center, our new gymnasium, and pool that are second to none. However, the most important activity wiil be sharing memories and relating post high school activities with friends and teachers who come together to celebrate Kettering's 50th. We will also be posting the procedures for those who wish to perform in the alumni concert.

To ensure that this event is the best, we need you to help build the participation by spreading the word to your Kettering friends and by adding your facebook Kettering friends to this page so that as many alumni as possible will be informed.

Students in Brian Wilson's Advanced Placement Language Arts class are working on a hard-cover book to commemorate Kettering's 50th anniversary. The book, 144 pages with black and white photographs, will include a DVD being put together by Jesse McLean's video students.

The book tells the story of the school through profiles of some of our alumni. While it was impossible to choose enough people to accurately portray the ENTIRE story, we hope that the included profiles will paint an intriguing portrait. We are covering some current Kettering teachers who graduated from Kettering as well.

The book will be finished by the beginning of March and be distributed at the end of April.
The book itself is currently on sale for $20 (plus $3.50 if you'd like to order with a credit card online). You can purchase a copy at Kettering (room 501), or by going to yearbookordercenter.com. If you buy online, you'll need this order number: 13827. It's a secure site run by our yearbook publisher, Herff-Jones.

To keep the price low, we are selling sponsorships as well. If you happen to know of any local businesses who might like to be listed as sponsors, please email Brian Wilson at [email protected].
