If so then this here Giddy Up is the best darn cabin fer you and it is located in the beautiful Wears Valley area. You and yers need to experience this picture perfect cabin fer yerself. It has a split plan with the Master King Bedroom with awesome view, master bath with whirlpool bath tub, walk

in shower and walk in closet. The other side offers a queen bedroom and separate bath. A fully equipped kitchen is provided as well as a laundry area. The loft offers a regulation size pool table to encourage dueling of the safest kind. The rear deck has a passle of rocking chairs as well as a hot tub in order to soak in the golden sunsets. A gas grill is located on the front deck and last but not least fer yer enjoyment is a communication thing called Internet, TV's and DVD's. Coming in 2016!!! Addition will be competed to offer you a 3rd bedroom with king size bed, bathroom and a large game room with 60" TV. Also will have sit down bar with refrigerator and other goodies too!!

A close hike from the cabin.....one of my favorites!!

The story of the Walker Sisters is pretty incredible. They were among some of the last residents of the park.

Their father John N. Walker, or Hairy John, married Margaret Jane King in 1866. He had previously served in the Union army and was imprisoned by the Confederates. John and Margaret Jane raised 11 children to full adulthood, seven girls and four boys.

The cabin that sits within the park boundaries today was originally constructed by Brice McFalls in the 1840s. The cabin then went to Margaret Jane’s parents, Wylie and Mary Jane King. After Wylie passed away, John Walker and Margaret Jane took over the property and eventually expanded and changed it to its current state to accommodate their large family.

John Walker outfitted his estate with a springhouse, corncrib, barn, apple house, blacksmith shop, gristmill, pig pen, and smokehouse. The family could be largely self-reliant with orchards of trees and gardens full of food. Livestock was also kept on the property.

Margaret Jane was well versed in herbal remedies and taught her daughters her ways.

As the years went on the boys moved out and married. Margaret Jane passed away in the early 1900s and John Walker passed away in 1921. Only one Walker sister married, Sarah Caroline. Two others had been engaged but whose fiancés met untimely deaths. Ten years after John Walker passed, Nancy passed away too. Thus, the remaining five Walker Sisters stayed on the land until they died.

After the park was established the Walker Sisters were given a life lease on their property to live out the rest of their lives because of their unmarried status. One by one, each passed, Polly, then Hettie, Martha, Margaret, and finally Louisa in 1966.

Although now gone, the Walker Sisters and their family’s legacy lives on with the preservation of their homestead. Check out this historic property by visiting Metcalf Bottoms picnic area. Over the one lane bridge going out of the park towards Wears Valley there is a road that leads to the Little Greenbrier Schoolhouse and Little Greenbrier Gap Trail. It is up the trail about 1.1 miles from the schoolhouse that you’ll encounter the Walker Sisters’ cabin.

Spring cleaning is done our cabin! Yes those big picture windows get a washing a least 2 times a year. We pride ourselves in a always clean cabin for your stay! As the owners we our also the housekeeping and maintenance crew! We look forward to your stay with us!!
