“Yeaaaah, I'm going to need you to come in on Saturday. Mmmmmkay? Thaaaaaanks.” - Bill Lumbergh

This Saturday, visit a national park for FREE (that got your attention) and join in the nation's largest single-day volunteer effort to make a difference in the green spaces and historic sites in your community. Bring your people skills. No flair is necessary. (Well, a little never hurts.) Also, we need those TPS reports... ASAP.

Held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, celebrates environmental stewardship and encourages the use of open space for education, recreation, and health benefits. National Public Lands Day is led by the National Environmental Education Foundation - NEEF, in partnership with the National Park Service and other federal agencies. There are many ways to participate. Whatever you choose, we encourage you to share !

Looking for inspiration? Check out these cool events!

Mount Rainier National Park - Help cap off a summer of stewardship in which more than 2000 people have contributed to the protection of Mount Rainier. NPLD event participants will be divided into multiple work groups alternating between litter patrol, vegetation projects, and more.

Yosemite National Park - Yosemite FaceLift is a volunteer event started by the Yosemite Climbing Association (YCA) in partnership with NPS. The 1,000-2,000 people participating this year will remove trash, perform trail work and ecological restoration, and protect the natural and cultural resources of this iconic park.

Cumberland Gap National Historical Park - Recognize the history, heritage, and culture of the Appalachian Mountains through Living History demonstrations, children's activities, interactive exhibits, and more during this fun-filled educational weekend.

Shenandoah National Park - Rangers and guest speakers will host programs and Shenandoah National Park Trust's Art in the Park: Scenes from Shenandoah event will feature free artist workshops and demonstrations.

Cape Cod National Seashore - Help restore wetlands in the park. Join a plant ecologist and community volunteer ambassador to gather wetland plants from the West End Marsh and then spread the gathered material in Duck Harbor to naturally reseed this wetland.

Hot Springs National Park - Join the "The Battle of Central Arkansas" where you have one day to pick up as much trash as possible! Prizes will be awarded to the team and individuals who collected the most trash from this public land.
