The Last Known Photograph of Wyatt Earp. Born in March 1848, he grew up with four brothers. Earp began his career in law enforcement in Missouri, where he was elected local constable in 1870. However, following the death of his pregnant wife, he left town. His journey took him to Kansas, and by 1878, he had become a notable lawman and gambler in Dodge City, Kansas, forging alliances with legendary figures like Doc Holliday and Bat Masterson.

In 1879, Wyatt and his brothers moved to the bustling town of Tombstone in the Arizona Territory, seeking fortune and opportunity. Wyatt worked as a gambler and saloon guard, while his brother Virgil became the town marshal. Tensions with a local outlaw gang led by Ike Clanton escalated, culminating in the infamous gunfight at the O.K. Corral on October 26, 1881. The shoot-out, which lasted only about 30 seconds, involved Wyatt, Virgil, and Morgan Earp, along with Doc Holliday, against the Clanton gang. Three outlaws were killed, but the violence persisted.
Virgil was ambushed and wounded in December 1881, and Morgan was killed in March 1882. Seeking revenge, Wyatt and his allies pursued and killed several suspects. Facing murder charges, Wyatt fled to Colorado and then moved through various boomtowns before finally settling in California. There, he engaged in police work, gambling, mining, and real estate.

In his later years, Wyatt collaborated with Stuart N. Lake on a biography titled "Wyatt Earp, Frontier Marshal," published in 1931. This work cemented his status as a legendary figure of the American West, though many of his exploits were later found to be exaggerated. Earp's life and adventures have been immortalised in numerous books and films, including "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral" (1957), and "Tombstone" (1993).

Wyatt Earp passed away in 1929, leaving behind a legacy that continues to captivate and inspire tales of the Old West.

Look up at the sky tonight! 🌕✨ A rare Super Blue Moon will light up the sky—a spooky spectacle where a supermoon (when the moon is closest to Earth) and a blue moon (the third full moon in a season with four) align. Don’t miss this chance to see the moon 30% brighter and 14% larger than usual—though, sadly, not actually blue. This cosmic event won’t happen again until 2037, so make sure to catch it! A perfect time to try some paranormal investigation.

May we present: Esther Jones aka Baby Esther.

Esther Jones, known by her stage name,"Baby Esther,' was an African American singer and entertainer of the Roaring Twenties. She performed regularly at the The Cotton Club in Harlem. Helen Kane saw her act in 1928 and appropriated Jones' 'baby' singing style for a recording of"I Wanna Be Loved By You." Her very particular style went on to become the inspiration for the voice of beloved cartoon character Betty Boop.

A COOL WIZARD OF OZ STORY!

During the filming of the beloved classic "Wizard of Oz" in late 1938, the MGM production staff was looking for a coat for actor Frank Morgan to wear in his role as charlatan Professor Marvel. Mr. Morgan also played the Wizard and various small roles in the film. The film's publicist explained the kind of coat they were looking for: "They wanted grandeur gone to seed. A nice-looking coat but very tattered."
According to the publicist: ". . . the wardrobe department went down to an old second-hand store on Main Street and bought a whole rack of coats. And Frank Morgan and the wardrobe man and Victor Fleming [the director] got together and chose one. It was kind of a Prince Albert coat. It was black broadcloth and it had a velvet collar, but the nap was all worn off the velvet."

The coat fit Morgan perfectly. It had exactly the right look of shabby gentility, so they used it in the film.
One hot afternoon during filming, Frank Morgan happened to turn out the pocket. Inside was a name that caused Morgan to do a double take -- the name was "L. Frank Baum." Mr. Baum, of course, was the creator of "The Wizard of Oz." Back in 1900, he wrote the book that the film was based on, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz."

The folks at MGM knew this was an astounding find. They figured out the identity of the tailor in Chicago and sent him pictures of the coat. The tailor sent back a notarized letter saying that the coat had been made for Mr. Baum. And then Mr. Baum's widow identified the coat, too.
MGM was convinced, but others thought the story was a publicity stunt. It sounds almost too good to be true--but what a great story.

Lets talk about potato chips..

The potato chip was invented in 1853 by George Crum.. Crum was a black American chef at the Moon Lake Lodge resort in Saratoga Springs, New York.. French fries were popular at the restaurant, and one day a diner complained that the fries were too thick.. Although Crum made a thinner batch, the customer was still unsatisfied.. Crum finally made fries that were too thin to eat with a fork, hoping to annoy the extremely fussy customer.. The customer, surprisingly enough, was happy – and potato chips were invented.. Crum’s chips were originally called Saratoga Chips and potato crunches.. They were soon packaged and sold in New England.. Crum later opened his own restaurant.. William Tappendon manufactured and marketed the chips in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1895.

In the 1920s, a salesman named Herman Lay sold potato chips to the southern USA (selling the chips from the trunk of his car).. In 1926, Laura Scudder (who owned a potato chip factory in Monterey Park, California) invented a wax paper potato chip bag to keep the chips fresh and crunchy.. With further technology, innovation, and a countless number of variations and flavors, potato chips have only grown in popularity over the years.. And now, each bag contains more air than chips.

Check out this 122 year old ghost ship, sitting abandoned in a Kentucky river. It was ridden a few times by Thomas Edison and appeared in a Madonna music video.
_

The U.S.S. Sachem was launched 10 years before the Titanic departed in 1902, initially a luxury ride for a railroad mogul and turned warship that powered through both world wars, including a few times with Thomas Edison aboard while he did wartime experiments.

During World War II the ship became outdated with new technologically advanced ships.

It was then purchased in the late 40s by a quickly-growing cruise line in New York City, and the Sachem became a recreational vessel once again used as a fishing and party boat, and later a sightseeing ship that ferried nearly 3 million people around New York.

It started her career as a cruise ship under the name, Sightseer, and eventually ending it as its final identity, the Circle Line V, in which the faded name that can still be found on her hull today.

How did it end up in its final location?

The vessel was purchased in 1986 by private owner Robert Miller with an attempt to repair it. But repairs didn’t go well. It reportedly took 10 days to move the ship from New York and after being navigated down the Mississippi by Miller and his crew, she was anchored on a small tributary off the Ohio River on Miller’s property. Water levels dropped so much that the ship became mired in the mud. Miller didn’t have the funds to move it so the ship sat there, never to sail again.

Before his death, Edgar Allan Poe was found on the street, delirious and in heavily soiled, shabby clothing that was clearly not his own. On his deathbed, he was wracked with fever dreams and vivid hallucinations, while calling out for someone named Reynolds.

Below is an account of his final days:

Edgar Allan Poe left Richmond, Virginia, on September 27, 1849, headed for Philadelphia to edit a collection of poems. Instead, he was found in Baltimore six days later. His journey from Richmond to Baltimore remains a mystery, with no sightings or explanations to fill the gap.

When discovered, Poe’s clothing was dirty and ill-fitting, suggesting foul play or extreme disarray. His incoherence and inability to explain his state added to the mystery.

Joseph Walker, a local typesetter, found Poe and managed to alert Joseph E. Snodgrass, an acquaintance with medical training. Despite their efforts, Poe’s condition only worsened, and his final days were marked by delirium and confusion.

Unable to explain his circumstances or how he got there, Poe’s condition rapidly deteriorated.

For four days, Poe languished in Washington College Hospital, plagued by hallucinations and fever dreams. He repeatedly called out for a mysterious “Reynolds,” a person unknown to his friends and family. On October 7, 1849, Edgar Allan Poe passed away, his cause of death listed as phrenitis, or swelling of the brain, a diagnosis that has since been called into question.

Here’s a truly spooky photo from one of the most haunted places on Earth- Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, Kentucky.

The owner of this photo said….. "I took this during a tour of Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Kentucky. There was no one in the window when I took this picture everyone was downstairs. The tour guide said it's the most amazing picture she’s seen taken there, ever. It looks like a small child looking down at the people below (no children on the tour) it’s heartbreaking to think these poor little souls are alone here.”
