🌿 In the middle of the vast Muong Chien field, there are two ancient trees that have been quietly together for generations... Looking from a distance, the two trees seem to be protecting each other, sheltering and sharing together. One tree is tall with wide branches and leaves, while the other tree has leafy branches growing on one side. The two trees seem to blend together.

🌿 Because according to Thai ethnic customs, when settling down somewhere, people will plant a tree at the beginning of the village, naming it “Lak Muong tree”, meaning the boundary tree between the village and the outside...; It likes a new start and just lets the past behind to start a new life. The boundary not only has geographical meaning, but it also brings spiritual meaning.

☁️ In Ngoc Chien commune, Nam Nghiep highland village also known as “Medlar flowers paradise” has a unique climate with cold winter and cool summer. When spring comes, normally from the end of February to the early of April, medlar flowers bloom into its purely attractive white color in every corner of the forests. Ngoc Chien commune also becomes the largest area in Vietnam which has 2400 ha of medlar flowers blooming every year.

🏵️ Along with that is the “Medlar flowers festival” held annually with traditional folk games which attracts a lot of domestic and international tourists. Furthermore, special activities such as displaying and introducing local food and agricultural products also draw interest from both the locals and tourists from everywhere.

⛅️ Located at the altitude of over 1,371m above sea level, Suoi Giang has cool weather all year round. Once setting foot on this land, you would feel a day with four seasons of the year: cold weather at night, hazy clouds covering the villages and mountainous slopes in the morning, fresh and windy sky at noon, and yellow sunshine in the afternoon. 🐟 In the diverse culture of Thai ethnic people in the Northwest region of Vietnam, it is impossible not to mention their local specialties. The most outstanding dish among them is Thai people-style grilled fish, also known as “Pa Pinh Top”. This is an indispensable specialty to serve when guests come to show the homeowner's respect to the guests.

🐟 This is an elaborately prepared dish. Pa Pinh Top requires a lot of ingredients mixed together in order to have a perfect flavor. From the step of choosing fish to the marinating ingredients, every single stage is important. During the grilling stage, the cook has to check the temperature regularly to adjust the charcoal to a suitable level so that fish can be well-cooked and delicious. Eating Pa Pinh Top with sticky rice is much more yummy.

💚 Tu Le green rice is traditionally processed: Rice harvested must be in the curing stage when its grain still keeps a little milk and is not yet fully ripe, the roasting stove remains at low heat and continuous stirring to retain green rice’s softness and deliciousness without burning. The eventual result is a fragrant and sweet-scented Tu Le green rice that imbues the typical green color of rice and spirits of the Vietnam Northwest mountains.

💛 Unlike terraced fields in other different locations, Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai) owns “Mam Xoi Hill” and “Mong Ngua Hill” terraced fields which have unique and unusual shapes. The "prime time" to observe the majestic beauty of these two locations is during September and October. Magnificent beauty like a natural masterpiece of Yen Bai has attracted many domestic and international tourists these days.

🌾 “Mam Xoi Hill” terraced fields are in La Pan Tan commune. “Mam Xoi Hill” is a marvelous agricultural creation of H’Mong people in La Pan Tan. The H’Mong farmers here have meticulously designed terraced fields in a spiral shape surrounding the hill from the foot to the top, in the middle of the top is a wide flat surface like a tray reaching to the clouds and sky.

🌾 “Mong Ngua Hill” is in Sang Nhu village, Mu Cang Chai district. These fields have deep curves. When they line up next to each other, they will form a shape similar to the arc of a horseshoe. To conquer and admire the impressive scenery at “Mong Ngua Hill”, it is a difficult route as the road up there is not easy. However, it will not be a waste of time as you reach the final destination to marvel at the scene here.

🪵 The origin of the Po mu wooden roof started when Thai people first moved to Ngoc Chien - an isolated area a long time ago. There was a lot of Po mu wood so that it became the main materials for people to build houses and start a new life.

🪵 Until now, there are more than 100 houses with Po mu wooden roofs around Ngoc Chien, especially some of those that are still there even more than 100 years old. To make the Po mu timber roof, it is a complicated process of cutting it into panels according to the grain of the wood, to limit warping. Despite its roughness, it is airtight and really cool in summer.

🪵 Po mu wooden roofs have become a signature point in the culture of Thai people here. Time over time, it has been well-preserved and passed down each generation by local people to become the highlight when visiting Ngoc Chien.
