Operating from its office in the Tay Ho district of Hanoi, Vietnam, the small staff comprised of nine members (including two international and one local volunteer) work meticulously to bring prosperity to marginalized and impoverished members of society in Vietnam. MACDI uses the three following tools to improve the livelihoods of various individuals, families and communities:
Microfinance:

Providing training and capacity building, workshops, and study tours for local microfinance institutions and practitioners
- Designing and implementing microfinance projects
-Implementing microfinance activities in impoverished and rural communities
- Consulting for the establishment of microfinance institutions and aiding in capacity building for such organizations
- Researching and evaluating the impact of microfinance activities in regards to community development
-Linking donors and investors to microfinance institutions and initiatives
-Advocacy for creating an enabling proper environmental and legal framework for developing the microfinance industry
Business Development and Enterprise Assistance:
- Providing training and capacity building, workshops, study tours for business households and small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
- Providing linkages for households and SMEs to access credit resources
-Generating employment and economic opportunities for the poor and marginalized members of society
Community Activities:
Cooperating with domestic and international organizations for implementing microfinance operations in conjunction with other community development activities and projects such as: food security, community livelihood, health, education, child protection, advocacy, environmental protection, water hygiene and gender equality initiatives.
