Hoi An Old Town Walking Tour (Small Group Tour)

The ancient town of Hoi An, 30 km south of Danang, lies on the banks of the Thu Bon River. Occupied by early western traders, Hoi An was one of the major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the 16th century. Hoi An has a distinct Chinese atmosphere with low, tile-roofed houses and narrow streets; the original structure of some of these streets still remains almost intact. All the houses were made of rare wood, decorated with lacquered boards and panels engraved with Chinese characters. Pillars were also carved with ornamental designs. Tourists can visit the relics of the Sa Huynh and Cham cultures. They can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of the romantic Hoi An River, Cua Dai Beach, and Cham Island. Over the last few years, Hoi An has become a very popular tourist destination in Vietnam.

Full Day Hoi An City Tour ( All Experience In 1 Day)

The Old Town of Hội An In the 16th and 17th centuries, Hội An trading port was the only international trading centre in Southern Vietnam. Foreign merchant boats came to Hội An in great numbers for annual trade fairs, each lasted from 4 to 6 months. Right in this town, traders from Japan, China, Holland, India set up their emporiums or established their owns quarters for permanent habitation. Thank to fortunate opportunities, the old town of Hội An, a unique concentration of architectural monuments of various forms: living house, assembly hall, communal house, pagoda, shrine, temple, water well, bridge, market, wharf... has been preserved rather intact. They are along the streets that cut one another, forming palaces and giving a good example of symbolic oriental cities in the Middle Age. The daily life of Hoianians together with their old aged and traditionally well kept habits and customs, its nice natural landscapes, rivers, islands and traditional dishes, have made a great attraction to domestic and international tourists and those who come to do research in the world cultural heritage of Hội An Old Town, a wonderful living museum of architecture and urban lifestyle.

Hue Imperial City (Small Group Tour/ Whole Day Trip)

Hue located 130 km northern of Hoi An, was the capital of Vietnam, the feudal sovereignty, from 1744 when the Nguyen lords controlled all of southern Vietnam from the city. The dynasty of the Nguyen family lasted (in theory) from 1802, when Nguyen Anh defeated rebels to control the city, until 1945, when the last emperor abdicated. The city was severely damaged in the 1968 Tet offensive during the American war, when house-to-house fighting lasted for weeks, but many architectural gems remain and are well worth a visit. Hue is divided between the older fortified Citadel, containing almost everything interesting and the new, smaller sprawl that has developed across the river. The new side contains most of the facilities, the hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, and banks. People come to Hue to see the old Imperial complex, the Citadel and the Forbidden city, the pagodas, and the many tombs of the emperors that lie a few kilometers south of the city. Each tomb is a walled compound containing temples, palaces and lakes. Hue is a quiet, relaxing city, big enough to be interestingbut small enough to bicycle around. The food is great, the best in Vietnam, and the women are supposed to be the most beautiful in the country.

Hoi An Basket Boat Tour: Fun and Worth It
The basket boat tour in Hoi An is where you can experience the thrill of riding a circular bamboo boat through the serene waterways of Hoi An’s Coconut Village. This unique experience is a must-try for anyone visiting Hoi An.

The basket boats, also known as “Thung Chai”, are made from bamboo and are used by local fishermen to catch fish in the shallow waters of the village. Riding in these boats is not only fun but also an opportunity to learn about the local culture and way of life.

So, hop on board and let’s explore the palm forest’s beauty together!

The Traditional Basket Boat Hoi An Has Had For Centuries
According to legend, the basket boats were invented by local fishermen as a way to avoid paying taxes imposed during the French colonial rule. Others say that the boats were born out of necessity as they were more practical than traditional fishing boats.

Regardless of their origin, the basket boats have become an endearing symbol of life along the central and southern Vietnamese coast for business, pleasure, and now tourism.

The basket boats are made using bamboo and cow dung along with a waterproof resin from tree sap to keep them afloat. Firstly, young and flexible bamboo is dried in pieces. Then it is cut to an exact size before being woven together by hand, forming the shell of the boat.

Many boat builders use cow dung or a water-resistant resin to waterproof the boat then cover it with tree sap. The boat is left in the sun to dry, adding strength.

The Hoi An basket boats are designed to be lightweight and maneuverable, making them ideal for navigating through shallow waters and narrow channels. They are used for fishing, crabbing, and transporting goods and people.

Nowadays, they are also popular among tourists who can enjoy a basket boat ride at the Coconut Village in Cam Thanh. Taking a basket boat ride on the Thu Bon river is among the best things to do in Hoi An.
