We go to Khe Sanh Combat Base via Highway 9 - runs across Vietnam roughly in line with the 17th Parallel. The route includes two segments. The segment called National Route 9A begins at D**g Ha and ends at Lao Bảo on the Vietnam-Laos border and is entirely within Quảng Trị Province.
Vinh Moc (Vịnh Mốc) is a tunnel complex in Quang Tri, Vietnam. It is located in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) near Hien Luong Bridge, which established as a dividing line between North and South Vietnam from July 1954 to 1976 as a result of the First Indochina War.
The whole dome-shaped tunnel system has dimensions of 0.9m x 1.75m and a total of 2,034m long, including many branches that are connected together through the main axis with a length of 870m.

DIRECT FIRE IN SOUTH VIETNAM BEFORE 1975

The US CH-47 "Chinook" helicopter has 7.6m3 of water at a time. This was originally a direct-to-air aircraft where heavy transport was converted into direct fire. CH-47 Helicopter is the world's most advanced vehicle. Having to do many "water" rooms, the helicopter will catch on fire.

During the Vietnam War, Kenny was stationed on Fire Support Base Russell (LZ Russell). He left "the Hill" on September 21, 1969. This trip to Vietnam was to be on LZ Russell for the 50th anniversary (September 21, 2019) of when Kenny left the Hill. It was a long, exhausting, slippery, STEEP and extremely HARD climb to get from the bottom to the top. Took all day, but we did it. Honestly, this was the most strenuous thing I've ever done in my life and wondered several times along the way if I was even going to make it. We spent the night on the Hill too. Kenny has been back to Vietnam 11 or 12 times and on the Hill several times in recent years. This was my second trip, but my first to the Hill. I was proud and honored to be able to share this special 50th anniversary with him. To think I was standing on the same Hill where he served and so many men lost there lives was quite humbling and an honor. Thank you to all Veterans! Sharing a few pics of our view from the top and our trip up and down the Hill, as well as a few other pics during our stay in Vietnam.
