SHORT RESUME ABOUT THE HISTORICAL OF BAIT BAWS' Castle
BAIT Baws is the old village witch is one of the most importance heritage and culture sites in Yemen, because of its position, natural properties and historical role for centuries. BAIT Baws' Fort is about 7kms southern of the capital of Sana’a, on top of rocky mountain .contains about 200 house ,it has only one gate with around wall. The
fort was famous well- known from old centuries because of the a lot of Hymearate inscribing on the wall of the rocks, especially the sculptured inscribing on the north side, in the separated zone. Depending on the Hymearate inscribing the fort was built by the well-known Hymearate KING (THEE BAWS BIN EIRL BIN SHORAHBEEL ) whom many historians wrote about him ,the fort name (Bait Baws )was belonged to him . at about the second century B.C
The king THEE BAWS made the fort as abode and headquarters of his leadership, where his name was found on the a lot of rocks. Also,the famous known (Nashwan bin Saeed AL-Hymeari) ,dead in 573 a.h. mentioned the king (THEE BAWS)in his poem when he asking about the historical great kings of Yemen . For a long time the fort was place for dispute to control it, because it was defiance line overlook Sana'a. A'L TAREEF occupied the fort after their secession from the state of A'L YA'AFOR, then they made the fort as abode for a long time, and they also worked to rebuild the fort. At the same time they used the fort as huge prison for important prisoners because it was very impossible to be penetrated, and has only one gate and the other sides were high rocks. Here are examples for the most important prisoners whom arrested inside the fort:
1- Prince Ali bin AL Hussien bin goftom, iraqi, the governor on Yemen from the abassian Caliph AL Ma'atadhed bellah Ali bin AL Moa'atadhed in 290 a.h.
2- bin Ya'afor AL Hawali,the cousin of the king Asa'ad binAbi Ya'afor AL Hawali, the king of Yemen in that time and the leader of the A'L YA'AFOR state ,who came to Bait Baws fort himself and released his cousin from the prison .
3- the Imam ALMortadha Mohammed bin AL Hadi Yehya bin AL Hussien AL Rassi who was arrested at that time by the famous leader named Ibn AL Dhahak AL Hashedi. The Imam wrote a poem about case in Bait Baws prison. Then the Imam AL Hadi Yehya bin AL Hussien came to Bait Baws with his army ,a break out hard battle happened called (Bait Baws battle) between him and A'L TAREEF beside Ibn AL Dhahak, the victory and occupying of the fort deserved the Imam AL Hadi,who built the holy mosque which named by his name (AL HADI mosque)at 293 a.h., this case continue for four years (291-295)a.h. until the king of A'L YA'AFOR state come and drive him out and renew the control of A'L YA'AFOR state on the fort again . In 450 a.h. the king and founder of AL SOLAIHEAH state (Ali bin Mohammed AL Solaihi) came to Bait Baws to occupy the fort .and in the period of the Queen ARWA bint Ahmed AL solaihi the fort was rebuilt again at 504 a.h. The Queen ARWA ‘s husband lived in the fort for a short time until his death at 480 a.h. and he tomb near the fort ,his grave is known until this time. At the beginning of the sixth century a.h. the death of the Queen ARWA caused to destruction of AL SOLAIHEAH state and decrease the caring about the fort in the alternated states in Yemen. The interesting about the fort restarting again with the establishing the state of AL Taherien by the leader and king Amer bin Abdelwahab bin dawod bin taher at 910 a.ah.
