With a humble and grateful heart, we are thankful to confirm that Idwalaview has been spared from the fires that burnt the Mabalingwe Reserve this past long weekend. 🙏

To allow for extensive cleaning and to give the reserve and the Mabalingwe Nature Reserve Team time to recuperate and become operational again, we will be pausing reservations from September 27th to October 9th, 2023. 🌿

🦒 🦒 : The golden sun, a couple of tall boys, and the sounds and smells of the African bush. Whilst it was thought that giraffes did not make any sounds, this is now known to be untrue, as giraffes bellow, snort, hiss and make flute-like sounds, as well as low pitch noises beyond the range of human hearing. .

A speedy unicorn 🦏 : The top speed of a white rhino is 50 km/h. Breaking the Mabalingwe speed limit 🚫. Black rhinos are slightly faster, and considered the fastest of the rhino species, at 55 km/h. .

Our most elusive animal at Mabalingwe 🐆. Here pictured with a impala kill in the tree. : Leopards are capable of carrying animals heavier than themselves and will often drag their prey into the fork of a tree several meters off the ground. This process protects the carcass against any irritating scavengers and allows a few days of undisturbed eating. .
