Groot was die opwinding vandag toe Hagen's Pipe Works se manne vinnig moes kom werk doen by Dassiesfontein en daar "loop" hulle vir Errol Tobias, oud-Springbok rugbyspeler raak. Lorenzo Swart, met die rugbybal in hand is self 'n baie kranige rugbyspeler vir Caledon Rugbyklub. Voor sit Charles Gertse en agter staan ook Abraham van Wyk. Errol Tobias is vir die volgende paar dae van tyd tot tyd by ons waar hy afsprake reël met van sy aanhangers by Dassiesfontein om te gesels oor sy hoogtepunte in sy loopbaan wat ook te koop is op 'n geheue-skyfie. Steeds te koop is Errol se boek "Pure Gold" / "Suiwer Goud" en rugbyballe met sy handtekening daarop. Met dankbaarheid vir goeie gesondheid, is Errol verheug om sy rugbystories te deel en sy sukses van aanhouer wen en alle eer aan God met ander te deel. Amen

Our is a lovely Lace Dry Rosé Cabernet Sauvignon from Almenkerk Wine Estate.

The section of their Cabernet Sauvignon block (named Joep after the Pater Familias) that yields the grapes for this rosé is cordoned off and treated entirely differently to the red wine grapes from the same block. The viticulturist leaves longer bearers to give a higher leaf density. This allows the rosé bunches to ripen in the shade, leading to more strawberry & red berries aroma's (compared to the full blackcurrant of the exposed bunches).

Aromas of strawberries, watermelon and rose water follow through on the palate after a refreshing entry. This rosé is dry with a salivating edge and has a savoury finish which makes it a great partner to salads, lightly spicy dishes and herb-spice based cheeses.

This is meant to be a serious rosé, one that shows the proper respect to the category. Rather than being overly fruity or sweet, this wine is more about texture & food pairing.
