Mapenzi tours is founded by three students: Robyn Cockrell, Alex Maichatz, and Amber van der Spuy. The name Mapenzi comes from Swahili which is the most spoken language in Africa. Its meaning is the plural word for love and that is exactly what the company wants to portray - a love for travel, adventure, and people from all walks of life. t provides guided tours to all Cape Town hotspots, the top 10 hotspots include Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Cape Point, Hout Bay, Victorian Alfred Waterfront, Robben Island, Groot Constantia, Boulder’s Beach, Bou Kaap, Coastlines, and Cape Town Museums, as well as to remote game lodges in the Western Cape. Mapenzi has created a personalized application (APP) that allows guests to make use of digital guided maps and routes. Upon downloading the APP, it will provide guests with discounted coupons to make use of at different hotspots, restaurants, and gift shops. Our tours offer personalized services and guest-tailored packages. The guests are able to choose their own destinations and our company will compile the guest’s daily itinerary. Should the guest request a location not mentioned in our travel categories, thorough research will be conducted and an additional fee will be charged. Term’s and conditions will apply. Our transport vehicles will include overlanders, buses as well as minivans. When booking directly with our company for guests for the first time, they will receive a 5% discount on their next trip with us. From then on, they will receive a loyalty card, whereby with each experience they will receive 5 points that can be added to the card. The point system will allow guests to accumulate points and once they have received 50 points they will be able to choose from a selected list of experiences that they will be able to pay with via their points, as well as allow guests to receive discounts on entrance fees and allow them to ‘jump the queue’. Our company will offer a “travel like a local” package. This will be an exclusive package offering a lunch up the west coast, whereby our tour guides will cook them a local lunch over the fire, being a braai. Booking like a local has been one of the biggest trends over the last few years. All of the company’s guides are equipped with First Aid up to level three and have FGAZA guiding certificates. To make the experience tangible, our guides are each equipped with a professional digital camera and GoPro which allows them to capture each day, and at the end of the guest’s time spent with the company, the guest will receive a DVD with all the memories captured for the guest to take home and reminisce on. Whether traveling solo or with a group, Mapenzi allows for friendships to be built and memories that will last a lifetime.
