Effective November 21, all South Africans visiting New Zealand must apply for a visitor visa before travelling.

Currently, SA travellers are granted a visitor visa on arrival. As a result of the change, all SA passport holders will have to apply for a visa before departure. Applicants can apply online and those submitting paper applications can do so through VFS Global.

South Africans travelling to New Zealand before November 21 will be granted a visitor visa on arrival – valid for up to three months – provided they meet standard requirements, which include having sufficient funds, an outward ticket and satisfying the immigration officer they are genuinely intending a visit.

Please be advised that as of today (19 August 2014) any travellers who have visited Ebola affected countries in the last 30 days will be denied entry to Botswana.

These countries are: Guinea, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Liberia
(additions may be made to this list should the outbreak spread)

The above measure has been implemented by the Botswana Ministry of Health.

Travellers from South Africa and the rest of Africa now require a health certificate to enter Indonesia, as a result of the Ebola outbreak. Airlines seem to be largely unaware of the new requirement. Passengers without correct documentation risk being denied entry into the country when applying for a visa-on-arrival. Please double check this when you make your bookings.

Under 18s travelling to and from South Africa

The new requirements, being introduced by the South African Department of Home Affairs, for additional documentation needed by persons under the age of 18 years for travel to and from South Africa will be implemented on 01 October, 2014.

Applicable travellers will be asked to produce UNABRIDGED BIRTH CERTIFICATES at check-in for each flight.

SA travellers need visa for Kenya from July 1
The Kenyan High Commission has announced that South African travellers wanting to visit Kenya will need a visa from July 1, 2014.

Ordinary visa applicants travelling to or transiting through Kenya will be required to pay a service charge of R 750 ($70).
