Rusty Gate Farm was established as a nursery farm providing young fruit trees to farmers in the surrounding area including the Helderstroom valley, Elgin/Grabouw and Villiersdorp. Initial infrastructure included a large shed for tree classification and farm operations and six cottages serving as residences for farm workers. In the early 2000’s the farm was bought by friends, and they developed the

facilities as a family weekend getaway. Over time extended family and friends also visited Rusty Gate, making it a popular getaway for those “in the know”. In late 2018, Anchen and Bokkie “discovered” Rusty Gate Farm and immediately realised that it is a very special place and an ideal retreat for rejuvenating body and soul. Since taking ownership in mid-2019 they have renovated the facilities to ensure that every person visiting can enjoy a special experience in a unique setting.
