Lovely first night market at Searles Trading Post. Trust Naomi Herselman to always pull a new entrepreneurial surprise out of the hat.

Naomi's tip no 4: Your budget is the most important part of your plan. Agree on the total amount including accommodation, travel, honeymoon, and all the available lists. Do a budget and stick to it.
Naomi's Tip no 5: Be different and go back to the old fashioned hand delivered invitations. Think out of the box and be creative. Eg we had a wedding and the mother of the bride made huge Dream catchers. Every guest got a hand made dreamcatcher with the wedding invitation hand delivered.

Country Wedding tip no 3/2017
Plan your flowers very well especially when doing a country wedding as we often find huge waste. 1) where are the flowers coming from 2) will they arrive fresh 3) does the venue have a cold room to store them 4) who will be doing the flowers and if not a professional make sure you have enough containers and water to spray to keep them fresh 5) work out best time to do the flowers ie that they do not wilt. 6) get a professional to help you choose the correct flowers and be careful of waste. After a country wedding, if people take a bunch of flowers with, it will not last the trip. Plan clever because this is one area that you can save money if you are clever. Rather pay more and do the right thing than buy a lot of flowers that just goes to waste. And never compromise on food vs flowers. If you have a smalll budget, always go for food first.

Country wedding Tip no 1/2017: It is quite important, specially if you plan a weekend wedding, to see 1) is there maybe a public holiday somewhere before or after 2) has the village got enough accommodation 3) is anything else happening that could potentially get in the way of your guests finding accommodation eg another wedding in the village.
Tip no 2/2107 - Make sure that you consider where people are coming from when they arrive at the church so that you can give them something to drink ie have water before they enter the church. Even thought they might sleep over, they might have travelled straight to the wedding.

What I love about this wedding we are hosting is the simplicity of down to earth - Aards en woud - baby edible mushrooms - greens and creativity. My advice is always to make it simple, to know what you want and to tick the boxes. Get the whole family involved and let them enjoy the journey with you.

Tip from Searle's Trading Post Wedding Venue in Greyton:
The first step for any bridal couple:
Sit down and decide on what you want as a couple:
1) Decide on your budget
2) Write a brief: what vibe do you want
3) Write down non-negotiables - ie what is important for the bride and not negotiable and what is important for the groom and not negotiable.
4) Consider the type of guests: is it a weekend wedding, what are there expectations, how far are they travelling.
5) Consider the time of year and then be practical re what time the wedding starts. Too early and guests are tired or drunk too early. Too late and you have a short wedding.
6) Always have a Plan B for weather.
7) Spend money on what is really important to make a memorable day.
8) Follow your own insticts.
more to follow.

Tip: When doing your budget, I strongly recommend that you appoint a person to co-ordinate the day. This will make your day so much easier. Negotiate with someone you trust but it is essential that someone takes care of that for you on your special day. Especially when you get married in the country and when accommodation is involved.
