NUUSFLITS: DIASSTRAND-SLUITING
Toegang tot Diasstrand is beperk ná die stranding van walvisse en gevolglike opruimingsoperasies. Die walviskarkasse is gister, 21 Desember verwyder en die strand is oop vir die publiek. Geen swem is sedert 20 Desember toegelaat nie weens ’n haairisiko in die area as gevolg van opruimings- en skoonmaakwerk ná die verwydering van die karkasse. Lewensredders sal egter aandui wanneer die area veilig is om te swem. Die area wat vir baaiers oopgemaak kan word, is voor die parkeerarea. Die publiek word versoek om bedag te wees op die lewensredders se instruksies. Neem asseblief kennis dat die area voor die Pansy Cove-ontwikkeling, waar monsterneming gedoen is, gesluit bly tot môre, 23 Desember.

UPDATE: DIAS BEACH CLOSURE
Dias beach has been restricted following the stranding of whales and resulting clean-up operations. The whales have been disposed of yesterday, 21 December and the beach is open to the public. No swimming has been allowed since 20 December due to a shark risk in the area due to the run-off following the removal of the carcasses. However, lifesavers will indicate when the area is safe for swimming. The area that may be opened to bathers is in front of the parking area. The public is urged to be mindful of the lifesavers’ instructions. Please note that the area in front of the Pansy Cove development, where sampling was done, remains closed until tomorrow, 23 December.
