How often did you ask yourself, how can I earn money for my unwanted things? Perhaps you've removed all the bric-a-brac from the cupboards. Or your kids have outgrown many of their toys or maybe you simply have something you wish to sell. Whatever the reason, you have made that decision to become the seller of your goods or your surplus bits and bobs. So why don’t you try your local Car Boot Sale?
Betty Boot is a marketed car boot sale on the move concept founded by Doriane and Laurence who don’t just share same tastes and passion but memories of their native village in the south of France and a definite expertise and love for vintage and markets’ buzz. Laurence, also known as Lolo in the industry, is a true ambassador for vintage and the founder of Second Attitude Fashion Vintage. Her passion and style is not unfamiliar to the Parkhurst crowd where she opened a boutique in 2011. Her vintage sanctuary in Parkhurst was a natural extension to her life and passion she says. Born and raised in the meandering streets of Provence, markets and fairs have always been her playground where she also owned a vintage store. Doriane has been living in South Africa for over 30 years. She is a true woman entrepreneur, who has been fortunate to experience and work in various industries. She has built a professional and operational experience for herself and soon became an expert in the market and event industry. It is very unlikely for one not to have experienced her passion and dedication in a mall around Johannesburg where she orchestrates events and markets regularly. These two French ladies believe that a market is a destination that swiftly becomes a journey… the on the move car boot sale is a concept that allows anyone to become a market trader for one day and earn while having fun. The location is key, as well as the diversity of the offerings but what they linger on the most from their countless experience of fairs and markets, is the people. It was no mistake for Pirates Club to be the hosting venue of the first “Betty Car Boot Sale”. Located on the edge between Greenside and Parkhurst, founded more than a century ago in 1888, Pirates Club is legendary and the oldest sports club in Gauteng, a hidden green sanctuary, a playground for children and a relaxing hang out for parents. This gigantic complex does not only offer sport grounds but it boasts a licensed pub that serves a selection of handcraft beers and a restaurant that would make the journey complete! Pirates Club will host Betty Car Boot Sale every last Sunday of the month starting in January 2016, being on the move, Betty Boot will move to various locations throughout Gauteng and further afield.
