When reflecting on some highlights from the year, remembers this fond moment,

“After a thrilling first day on safari - the highlight of seeing a white rhino while walking on foot to get closer - was setting up for a sundowner on top of a nearby dam wall only for the same rhino to join us for a drink right next to where we were pouring a gin and tonic. We watched the rhino peacefully drink as we celebrated this incredible sighting as the sun lowered below the horizon.”

While on a recent trip, and guests travelled to the Serengeti. From there it was a quick hop across to the Grumeti reserve where they enjoyed time at the incredible Serengeti House.

If you want the perfect contrast of safari and opulence this is everything you’ll ever need. The Grumeti is a private reserve on the Western boundary of the Serengeti expanding for thousands of square miles. This beautiful private reserve offers panoramic views as far as the eye can see with some of the most incredible game viewing.

Let’s not forget the quint essential African sunsets from the rolling hills that occupy this area, too. Pictures just don’t it justice. Swipe to see more.

Sometimes it pays to slow things down. We often recommend an extended stay to our repeat clients to ensure they have ample time to soak up all that Africa has to offer. We recently did this when we spent 5 nights rather than the average 3-night stay when visiting the Sabi Sands.

The extended stay meant no pressure to partake in every activity and allowed guests to take the time to really enjoy the lodge and its five star amenities. It also allowed us to immerse ourselves in the area and really focus on specific photographic opportunities. A highlight would have to be the time we got to spend with a coalition of four male lions dominating the northern sector of the concession.

Looking for a sign to visit South Africa? With places like this, it’s tough not to.

Our team recently planned a stay at the exquisite in Hermanus for some of our repeat clients. While enjoying our stay we managed to see countless Southern Right Whales frolicking in the waves right in front of the hotel.

The area is also known for the beautiful Hemel – en – Aarde Valley famous for its incredible wine estates, cuisine and breath taking views. Hemel – en Aarde translates to Heaven and Earth and it’s definitely a fitting name!

Some of favorite countries to visit during Green Season are Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Kenya.

Here’s why:

Zambia’s South Luangwa national park is a must during this time. The mighty Luangwa river is in full flow, the birdlife is incredible and you will have the park to yourself.

Botswana’s Makgadikgadi salt pans are filled with water during this time, which brings in thousands of flamingos as well as zebra and wildebeest to the area. The Okavango delta turns into a lush green paradise that teams with wildlife as well as birdlife.

Zimbabwe’s Hwange national park is beautiful during this time of year, with plentiful herds of wildebeest as well as many other species enjoying the short grass plains. This brings in many predators.

Kenya during in the green season the wide-open plains well known for the famous wildebeest and zebra migration are yours to explore all to yourself! The predators are in full action, with a huge number of animals that remain after the migration leaves the area.

Nothing quite beats sundowners in the African bush. The sky transforms into a vibrant canvas, painted with hues of orange, pink, and gold. With a backdrop of sweeping plains or lush riverbanks peppered with Palm trees, the setting is nothing short of magical.

Take a walk on the wild side 👣🦁

Did you know? The Luangwa Valley in Zambia is fantastic for walking safaris, as well as being one of the few national parks that permits doing night drives.

This gives one the opportunity to see nocturnal animals that one would rarely see during the day, as well as experience predators using the darkness to hunt.

Where to see Rhino in Zambia 🔍

The most popular and well-known destination in Zambia is most probably the town of Livingstone to view the mighty Victoria Falls. But the Falls and surrounding area are within the Mosi oa Tunya national park is also home to a few of the only rhino found in Zambia.

As a safari destination, Zambia is quite often overlooked. But this beautiful country has some of the wildest and most unique eco-systems in Africa, and it is worth including in your next safari itinerary!

It may come as no surprise that one of Chase's favourite places to go on safari can be found in the Okavango Delta.

"Mombo is situated on the northern edge of the largest island in the Okavango Delta, called Chief’s Island. Chief’s Island comprises of acacia woodlands, nutrient rich grassland areas and floodplains. It is home to many antelope species that thrive in numbers, and thus attracts many predators, hence the affectionate term of “the place of plenty”.
