Located in Parklands, Table View, we are just 3 km from Blaauwberg beach with its world-famous view of Table Mountain. Being in the Northern suburbs, we are centrally located 18 km from the city centre and the V&A Waterfront, with the Durbanville Wine Route within 15 minutes' drive, as well as one of the largest shopping malls in Africa - Century City. The self-catering flat is also within easy wa

lking distance of Bayside Shopping Mall and many other shops, restaurants, cinemas and pubs. The MyCiti bus service - a modern, convenient, safe and affordable transport system operates within our area and covers from our area to the city centre and beyond. Merle's Place, a long standing, active accredited member of Cape Town Tourism for the past nine years, is fully self-contained with its own private entrance, and guests have use of one side of a remote controlled double garage for secure day and night parking. The flat is totally private, with access via a single flight of stairs. In addition, there is a small private garden for guests' use, and a braai (barbecue) facility is available. Watch the sun set from the flat's balcony with a full view of Table Mountain and the Durbanville Hills. The flat offers safe, clean and hygienic accommodation, and comprises an open-plan lounge and kitchenette, both of which are fully-equipped. The bedroom features a double bed, ceiling fan, wall-mounted panel heater, built-in cupboard with safe, and an en-suite bathroom with washbasin and shower. Ideally, the flat caters for a family of four (Mom, Dad and the kids), however it can accommodate up to a maximum of four adults (note: additional costs per head, per night for any adult in excess of 2). As your hosts, Merle and James strive to create a home away from home friendly atmosphere that will have you coming back time after time.

Cheese bacon Bread

60g Melted Butter

2 Cups of Self-Raising Flour (Sifted)

1 Cup of Milk

Small sprinkle of Italian Herbs (Optional)

A pinch of Salt

Diced Bacon and Grated Cheese (As much as you would like and save some for the topping).

Directions
Melt the Butter and then mix everything else in the bowl until combined.

It should form a sticky dough.

Next sprinkle some flour onto the bench or a board to knead the dough.

Keep doing this until it is no longer sticky and feels like a springy elastic dough.

Once that is done, form it into whatever shape you want Eg. Bread Roll Balls or just a Bread Loaf like I have done 🙂

Once dough is formed, add the rest of the Cheese and Bacon on the top.

Line the Slow Cooker with Baking Paper (I used 2 sheets) and put your bread dough in.

Cook on HIGH for 2 1/2 hours (Although this one I cooked took 3 hours 20minutes, as every slow cooker is different) BUT, keep checking it after the 2 hour mark to see if it is going okay! 🙂

Also DO NOT FORGET to put a Tea Towel under the lid and fold over the top to stop any water dripping onto the bread 🙂 🙂

Once cooked, take out of slow cooker and cool down a little and put melted butter on 😀 YUM!

4 Ingredient Xmas cake is a success again this year!!!
1 kg mixed fruit (I add a packet of glacé cherries)
2 Cups Chocolate Milk
1/2-3/4 Cup Baileys (my preference)
2 Cups self raising Flour
Soak fruit in milk & Baileys for 24hrs.
Fold in flour. Line slow cooker with 2 layers of baking paper on bottom and sides. (I also double a long strip and put in first so easier to pull out when cooked). Pour batter in and even out. Cook on *LOW* for 7-8 hours. Tea towel under lid. EASY!!! 😄
EDIT: Some slow cookers run hot and could be done within 6 hours.

NOTES.....
The tea towel is to collect condensation that forms on the lid, keeping it from falling onto the cake, keeping the top dry.
Although the original recipe used only three ingredients, we have added a twist for more flavor and included the Bailey's Irish Creme Liqueur. The packet of glacé cherries are an additional option, but a very tasty one.

4 medium patatoes

● Feriel Sonday's Thyme savoury rice

2 cups rice
one cup mix veggies
spice for rice and salt to taste
cook all together. Drain and set aside.
Braise chopped onion in oil.Add chopped green peppers and 1 teaspoon fresh thyme herb.
Season with salt and black pepper..Mix with rice and simmer on slow heat until warm enough.
this rice nice to any seafood dish.Enjoy

4 Outydse Koekie Resepte
Wat sal Ma tog sonder die blik koekies maak? Begin vroegtydig bak en probeer die vol blikke tot die vakansie wegsteek!

~Kondensmelkklontjies
Lekker en vinnig om te maak. Dit hoef nie gerol te word nie. Jy het net 'n teelepel en vurk nodig.

250 g sagte botter
100 ml strooisuiker
150 ml kondensmelk
750 ml koekmeel
10 ml bakpoeier
1 ml sout
5 ml vanieljegeursel
Stel oond op 180 °C. Room botter en suiker en klits kondensmelk by. Sif droë bestanddele by en voeg laastens geursel by. Meng goed tot 'n sagte deeg.
Skep klontjies met teelepel op gesmeerde bakplaat. Druk oorkruis effe plat met vurk.
Bak 15 minute of tot net begin verbruin. Laat afkoel op draadrak.

~Hawermoot-Sjokolade-&-Neut-Koekies
Die jong klomp sal gaande wees hieroor. Laat hulle gerus help om die deegballetjies te rol.

250 ml botter, sag gemaak
250 ml sagte bruinsuiker
90 ml wit suiker
2 eiers
7,5 ml vanieljegeursel
5 ml koeksoda
500 ml koekmeel
560 ml hawermout (nie die gou-gaar-soort)
375 ml klapper
500 ml donker sjokolade, in stukkies gekap
100 g (1 pakkie) amandels met skil gerooster en opgekap
Stel oond op 180 °C.
Klits die botter en suikers met elektriese klitser op
vinnige spoed tot lig en donsig. Voeg die eiers by en klits tot net gemeng.
Klits geursel en koeksoda by. Voeg koekmeel by en klits op lae spoed tot net gemeng. Voeg res van bestanddele by en meng goed saam. (Let wel: Nie met die klitser nie.)
Rol balletjies die grootte van 'n okkerneut en plaas op voorbereide bakplaat.
Druk effens plat met vurk. Bak sowat 10 tot 12 minute in die middel van oond.
Laat vir sowat 'n minuut in die pan afkoel voordat jy dit uitlig. Die resep lewer sowat 96 koekies.
Wenk: Om neute te rooster, stel oond op 180 °C. Plaas neute op bakplaat en laat sowat 5 tot 7 minute in oond tot goudbruin.

~Brosbrood-Blokkies("short bread")
Dié koekies smelt in die mond. Verdubbel dus die resep vroegtydig.

500 g botter
200 ml strooisuiker
890 ml koekmeel
200 ml mielieblom
ekstra strooisuiker vir bo-oor
Stel oond op 160 °C.
Room botter en strooisuiker saam. Sif droë bestanddele saam en voeg by bottermengsel. Meng tot 'n sagte deeg. Druk deeg in 'n gesmeerde rolkoekpan van sowat 28 cm x 38 cm.
Prik deeg goed met vurk. Sny liggies of merk af in blokke of vingers.
Bak sowat 10 minute in voorverhitte oond en verlaag hitte dan tot 150 °C en bak nog sowat 60 minute tot dit 'n ligte roomkleur het.
Haal uit en sny vingers of blokkies deur.
Sif strooisuiker oor en laat afkoel in pan.
Plaas op draadrak tot heeltemal koud. Bêre in 'n lugdigte houer.

~Gemmerkoekies
Gemmerkoekies bly altyd gewild en dié staatmaker uit ons toetskombuis kan jy altyd weer maak.

500 g sagte botter
500 ml sagte bruinsuiker
250 ml goue stroop
sowat 80 ml gemmerkonserf, gedreineer en fyn opgekap
1 kg bruismeel
10 ml elk koeksoda en kremetart
5 ml sout
2 ml gemaalde gemmer
2 eiers, geklits
ekstra koekmeel, indien nodig
Stel oond op 180 °C.
Klop die botter, bruin-suiker, stroop en konserf saam. Sif
die droë bestanddele by die bottermengsel in. Meng goed saam.
Voeg die eiers by en meng saam tot 'n sagte deeg. Neem ekstra meel op die hande as die deeg te onhanteerbaar is. Vorm klein balletjies en plaas op gesmeerde bakplaat of rol uit en druk sirkels van verlangde grootte uit.
Bak sowat 8 tot 10 minute. Lewer sowat 80 koekies.
Wenk: Let op dat die deeg `loop'. Laat dus genoeg ruimte tussen elke balletjie.
Ons het die deeg dun uitgerol en 'n heerlike bros koekie gekry.

Blitsvinnige melktert

1 liter melk
2 tlp vanilla
1 eetl margarien
1 k suiker
Knypie sout
Bring tot kookpunt.
3 eetl mazeina
3 eetl meel
3 eiergele (hou eierwitte eenkant)
Meng en gooi by gekookte melk. Roer vinnig tot dit dik is, draai plaat stadig. Klits 3 eierwitte styf en voeg by mengsel. Baie belangrik, dit maak dit vulsel “lig en romerig”.Skep in voorafgebakte tertdeeg, ek pak sommer tennisbeskuitjies in bak of maak die tennisbeskuitjies fyn met 100gr gesmelte botter en druk vas in tertbak, en voeg melktertmengsel stadig daarop. Strooi bietjie kaneel bo-oor. Sit in yskas om te stol.

KOEKSISTERS MET WARM STROOP
Ek kry hierdie koerant uitknipsel van 1947 tussen my Oorl. Mammie se resepte.
2 koppies meelblom
1 desertlepel bakpoeier (12,5 ml)
1 desertlepel suiker (12,5 ml)
1 desertlepel botter (12,5 ml)
1 eier
Knippie sout
¾ koppie melk
Olie vir gaarmaak

Vryf die botter met die vingerpunte in die meel in, gooi dan die bakpoeier en suiker by. Maak aan met melk waarin die eier geklits is. Meng goed en laat rus die deeg.(uur of langer as jy tyd het)
Rol die deeg uit, sny en vleg. Moenie deeg teveel hanteer en rek nie….
Bak in warm olie tot ligbruin.

Stroop
4 koppies suiker
2 koppies water
1 eetl goue stroop
Knippie wynsteensuur

Kook die bestanddele saam vir 5 min en dompel die warm koeksisters in die warm stroop. Haal uit en laat koud word voor bediening. Bere in die vrieskas en bedien yskoud
Nota:
Kan ook bietjie suurlemoensap by die stroop sit nadat dit klaar gekook het, om die soet bietjie te breek, begin maar by so 30 ml en proe, moenie teveel insit nie.

– Wou vinnig koeksisters bak, nie tyd gehad vir my gewone resep nie. Het hierdie resep van julle probeer en dit is absoluut awesome. Ek het 15 ml suurlemoensap by stroop gevoeg. Deeg is baie pap, so ek het baie meel vir uitrol gebruik. Sal dit beslis weer maak.

MINI MALVA PUDDINGS

Malva Puddings

60 g Wooden Spoon White Margarine
¾ C (180 ml) brown sugar
2 large eggs
¼ C (60 ml) apricot jam
2 tsp (10 ml) bicarbonate of soda
1 C (250 ml) full cream milk
2 C (500 ml) cake flour
¼ tsp (1,75 ml) salt
2 Tbsp (30 ml) malt vinegar

Sauce

1 C (250 ml) fresh cream
80 g Wooden Spoon White Margarine
80 g brown sugar
1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla essence

You’ll Need

A giant muffin baking tray or an individual bundt cake tray
Non-stick spray

Malva Puddings

Preheat the oven to 180 ºC.

Prepare a giant muffin or individual bundt cake tin by greasing well. Tip: to doubly ensure that your malvas release from the tin, cut rounds of baking paper the size of the bottom of the muffin pan and add to the bottom before filling.

In a stand mixer, cream the margarine, eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the apricot jam and mix to combine. Mix the salt and flour together then slowly add it while mixing until incorporated.

Add the bicarb to the milk and stir to dissolve. Add the milk to the stand mixer and mix until incorporated and then lastly add the vinegar and briefly mix. Do not over mix.

Pour the mixture out into the well-greased muffin or individual bundt tin and fill up to the ¾ mark. Bake 30-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.

Sauce

While the malvas are baking, add the ingredients for the sauce into a small saucepan over medium heat. Mix to combine and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 3 minutes then remove from the heat.

Remove the malvas from the oven and let them cool for 5-10 minutes and then poke them with a toothpick. Pour half of the sauce over the malvas and give it a few minutes to soak in. Using a palette knife, gently move the malvas away from the edge of the tin and then carefully lift out and invert into bowls (remove the round of baking paper if you used). Pour extra a little more sauce over the tops, serve with custard and enjoy!
