Sweden: Railway union plans series of strikes on 12, 16, 19 May



Nyhetsrum.sj.se News reported on Wednesday that failed contract negotiations have led the Swedish Union for Service and Communications Employees (SEKO) to give notice of a strike for members of its rail transport branch, starting Friday, 12 May 2017.



The notice is structured in three stages.

Starting 12 May at 14.00, the strike will include cleaners, automotive cleaners and facility personnel in the Stockholm area. It will disrupt Swedish State Railways trains, also known as Statens Jarnvagar (SJ), as well as all subway cars in Stockholm. The news source also mentioned "other train operators" when the notice affects both SJ employees and staff of the cleaning company.



Stage two will be effective on 16 May and will include train drivers from SJ Gotalandstag and employees at Green Cargo.



In the third stage, which will occur on 19 May, all the attendants of commuter trains in Stockholm and all the attendants at Transdev in Skane will strike.



Details of the strike may change. Railway passengers should verify all reservations. Travellers are advised to monitor local radio and other media, and remain aware of strike developments.
