Leopard in the past on Manyoni have been few an far between, in recent times we have been having more and more sightings, some of them absolutely incredible, others short glimpses.

Why birds dust bathe
Dust, or sand, bathing, helps birds in maintaining their plumage in good condition. The dust absorbs excess oil on the feathers to prevent the feathers from becoming greasy. The dust may also help to remove dry skin and feather parasites.
Here we see a southern Yellow-Billed Hornbill enjoying an early morning dust bath, always a special sighting seeing animal behaviour that is not commonly witnessed.

In celebration of yesterday's World Endangered Species Day, Sensiri had the privilege to take guests on a once in a lifetime experience, walking with a wild pangolin in it's natural environment as part of its "soft release". Our guests experienced a wild pangolin walking through Zululand in search of his favorite food, the harvester termites. Seeing his claws in action and how the termites tried to get rid of him by biting his face, luckily he has some serious body armour protecting him from their nasty bites. His long tongue going into the termite mount empty and coming out full of termites just shows you what magnificent mammal this is.
Sensiri is passionate about wildlife, especially endangered ones like the pangolin.

Recently the Zululand rhino orphanage received a 2 day old rhino calf, that unfortunately was unable to be nursed by its mother due to her having an infection on her udder.
The rhino orphanage took it upon themselves to try and help the young calf in its time of need.
The calf was airlifted to the orphanage and immediately the orphanage staff got to work as this is a very stressful time in the young rhinos life.
This massive task requires 24hour monitoring by orphanage staff and expert veterinary care, they will be monitoring his temperature, which needs to be maintained and he needs to be hydrated and have a milk feed every 2hours.
As we all know the rhino population of Africa need as much help as we can give. As the population is growing smaller by the day.
We at Sensiri Plains give our full support to this orphanage and wish them all the best in this time of need in this rhino calves life.
