To all our wonderful guests and staff, we will miss you. Thank you for staying with us. Those were the best of times. With a heavy heart we've closed the guesthouse. We've passed 100 days since or first Covid-19 cancellation and remained hopeful but now know that we cannot continue.

Summer is back.

Almost 8 weeks of lock-down and it's a rose day. Why? It's 32Β°C and a month to mid-winter. And, why not!

All South Africans are subject currently to a 21-day so called "lock-down." This means that we may not move outside of our homes amongst other and for the meanwhile may not take reservations. Bare with us please, we will be back. We are working on ways to support our staff and our business during this challenging time. In the meanwhile, we enjoy the distraction of the busy little Hunneyball House bees who aren't affected by the virus or the lock-down.

We seem to be getting this right. Well done President Ramaphosa, Health Minister Mkize, those enforcing the lock-down down and all the health workers in the field. Let's hope that this nightmare is over sooner rather than later for the sake of tourism amongst other.

The government seems to have acted faster than many other states to tackle Covid-19, writes Andrew Harding.

Months ahead of the harvest, winemakers begin preparing the cellar to receive the grapes. There’s the cleaning and checking of equipment and the ensuring that there is enough space for the winemaking and then it is upon us. Harvest can be a tough and exciting time and involves long days of focus and hard manual labour.
I visited the Joostenberg picking team this week. They began in the early hours, note the head lamps but as I wanted to photograph, I came when the light was a little better. All were happy to be photographed. They were picking bushvine Chenin blanc and Shiraz when I visited. Thanks Tyrrel of Joostenberg for the permission.
