In my jong dae toe die slip in Laaiplek gebou is het dit aan Louw en Halvorsin behoort en was dit n baie bedrywige plek gewees.Nuwe hout skuite is daar gebou en bestaande skuite is daar herstel.Links op die foto is n nuwe boot onder konstruksie.Vandag word die bote van Glasvesel of Staal gebou en word die slip hoofsaaklik gebruik om herstel werk te doen aan die klompie hout bote wat nog oor is.

Taste a salty bokkom at Ek en Djy Visserye restaurant in Bokkomlaan. They also offer bokkomplatters for a wider taste experience in this original century-old fish house.

Getting there: go on a West Coast Way road trip and take the R27 from Cape Town and follow the road along the coast to the town of Velddrif. Turn right onto Voortrekker Road and another right at the Bokkomlaan sign.

Ek en Djy Restaurant is on the banks of the Berg River, hosted in an original century-old fishhouse.

There’s no better place to enjoy the West Coast delicacy of dried fish: bokkoms! There bokkom platter is a salty-sweet taste explosion in your mouth.

The old fish-drying racks are now the shop’s shelves, stocking West Coast survival packs of bokkoms, disprins and a condom, put together by owners Gert and Magda Aggenbach.

We can recommend the Weskus Fish Platter and an ice-cold beer!

Getting there: follow the West Coast Way along the R27 from Cape to Velddrif. Go over the bridge, turn right and Bokkomlaan's sign shows you to turn right again, into the heart of Bokkomlaan.

Bergirivier offers visitors a diverse experience from a long stretch of clear white beaches in Velddrif and Dwarskersbos on the Atlantic, to the rural hinterland hugged by mountains between Piketberg and Porterville. The towering mountain peaks of Piketberg and Porterville are adorned with ancient and intriguing rock formations and fynbos.

The hinterland is the region’s rural heartland – and is crisscrossed by wide dusty farm roads, wheat fields, and small Sandveld villages such as Redelinghuys, Aurora, and Eendekuil. The Sandveld, known for its arid landscape, in spring blooms into a kaleidoscope of colorful flowers.

Velddrif - In addition to the beautiful scenery, visitors can expect to spot graceful flamingos and pelicans, kingfishers, ducks, as well as the many other water birds that live alongside the Berg River – this is truly a bird lovers paradise. In fact, this estuary is the third biggest in SA and rated as one of the most important birding areas in the world as well as being a key breeding site for many species of fish.
