Every year South Luangwa Conservation Society - SLCS organises a fun run and sports day for the people who live near the park.

Chris used to love helping with the run every year. It's really great that this year we're going to be using the run to get our message about our scholarships out there.

This years conservation fun run is on Sat 13th June at 6.30am, Mfuwe airport grounds. We've introduced the Chris Fenner Conservation Cup for the winner and a womans cup, courtesy of our late friend and fun run organizer Chris Fenner's family.

We are after your cash for charity...

Our training for the big day is going well, or as well as it can .. We did a half marathon training run last week at the South African Army infantry training school on the Garden Route at Oudtshoorn.

This week its another half marathon, a bit nearer to home thankfully at Belville just north of Cape Town.

The point of all this silly running is to try to raise money for Royal British Legion and it goes' without saying that if we're willing to run this that we all think they do good things. They help wounded service personnel get back on their feet and cope with what’s happened to them.I guess being all poetic, sometimes in life you've got to put the beer down and give something back to people who do something for you. Seeing all those guys coming back from Afghanistan and coping with what has happened to them over there, losing limbs etc. and still having to get on with life has inspired me to make this our moment to put the beers down.
