President Hichilema Addresses Mini Expo in Limulunga
Expo Media Team
The President of the Republic of Zambia Mr. Hakainde Hichilema visited the site for the Mini Expo at the Limulunga Royal Village on 9th April 2022.
The President thanked the Exhibitors, SMEs and the Organizers for making the Mini Expo a success. He was grateful to have been invited to witness what the local exhibitors had to showcase. The President showed passion towards realization of the potential of indigenous businesses. He pointed out on the need to invest, trade and process, including selling locally and internationally.
The President specifically enquired if any local businesses had dealings with multinational chain-stores such as Shoprite or Pick ‘n’ Pay. Sadly it was not the case. He instructed the Ministers of Commerce, Tourism & Agriculture and other Ministers to create an enabling environment for local businesses in the next Cabinet Meeting. He said, ‘Zambian products must have shelf space in the multinational retail shops and distribution chains’.
Local business people such as Mumwa had a break of their lives which they did not expect when the President directed his Advisors to ensure multinational chain stores stocked their goods.
He further engaged the commercial banks to consider lowering their lending rates to local businesses and individuals.
The president was looking forward to the Main Western Expo to be held from 19th-25th September 2022.
