📌Historical Facts

The exact date of construction of the monastery is unknown. According to historians, the monastery was gradually built from the 10th to 13th centuries. Due to numerous enemy raids, as well as earthquakes, monastic structures and churches were repeatedly destroyed and restored. It is only known that Haghartsin Monastery had been flourishing from the 12th to the 13th centuries. It was at this time that the monastery in various historical sources was mentioned as one of the most important and leading scientific and cultural centers of Medieval Armenia.

❤Great Hermitage Of Tatev (Tatevi Mets Anapat)❤


📌Preserved on the right bank of Vorotan River are the ruins of the shelter of the Kharants hermits (Great Hermitage of Syunik).
📌It was founded by monks in 1608–1613. The terrible earthquake of 1658 forced the hermits to leave the community and build a new one several kilometers from Kharants – monastery complex the Great Hermitage of Tatev. The Hermitage of Tatev is visible from the cabin windows on the third, longest section of Wings of Tatev cableway. A steep switchback road descends to the Hermitage from Tatev Monastery.

❤ Garni temple ❤
Which towers over a triangular cape, is the unique survived example of heathen culture in Armenia. It is a blend of Greco-Roman and Armenian styles. King Trdat The First ordered building the temple in the first century AD and dedicated it to the God of Sun. After adopting Christianity in 301, the pagan temple lost its significance and the fortress of Garni became the summer residence of the kings. Nowadays the ruins of the royal palace and the bathroom with a stunning mosaic work can be found near the temple.
