Yes Jibe City is open again!!

Last Monday we were completely surprised by oil slick in our beautiful bay, from a shipwreck near Trinidad Tabago. The oil washed up on the beach and ended up on our surfing gear. Fortunately the damage was not too bad. Unfortunately, nature has had to endure more. 😢 At the end of the day the inflow of oil stopped. Tuesday no new oil had washed ashore and with the help of the authorities we were able to clean the beaches. No new oil was found in the bay on Wednesday and Thursday.
The government decided to close off the whole area of Sorobon in order to properly carry out cleaning work. We are really impressed by the hard work by various organizations such as Stinapa, fire brigade, OLB, the army, LVV. We would like to thank everyone who has worked to clean The Sorobon Area. Thanks to this help we were able to open again today. 🙏 Masha danki

Sorobon will reopen on March 1st at 9:00 AM.
We are happy to welcome you back to Sorobon. Since the oil is not completely gone from the water, there is an urgent advice not to enter the water. There may still be small oil pebbles on the beach. If one inadvertently comes into contact with this oil, it should be washed off immediately. We have water and soap available.
Cleaning is still ongoing on the beach near the watchtower. This area is cordoned off and not accessible to visitors. For more information and answers to frequently asked questions, please refer to www.bonairecrisis.com

Jibe City would like to express a big thank you to all the volunteers who did their very best last Saturday to clean the mangrove between Punta Kalbas and the beach at Foodies. Very impressive. A number of windsurfers from Jibe City participated in the clean up. Car tires, oil drums, fishing nets and lots of plastic were removed from the mangrove and transported to the beach on our surfboards. Again thank you very much.
The clean-up was themed around World Wetlands Day; 2 February

Ray, the man standing on top of the mountain of waste, was the great initiator of the clean up at this location. Ray tirelessly picks up trash in and around Lac Bay every day. In between windsurfing, he goes into the mangrove on his SUP to pick up trash. Admirable and heartwarming.

Do you want to learn Wingfoiling?
We teach you how to fly. Comfortable in the shallow waters in front of Jibe City. Because of the onshore wind you don't have to worry about drifting away. Our foils have a special shorter mast so that foiling in shallow water is possible. The shorter mast also ensures that the crashes are not as hard. That gives a safe feeling. Come try it.

Start your wing experience in hip-height-water with onshore winds, so you feel safe and don’t drift off. At Jibe City you can use the best gear from Duotone/Fanatic. You start with a shorter foil mast which leads to faster progression than starting on a long mast.

Yesterday we had a wonderful dinner at with our team. Young ones and the experienced ones all enjoyed the meal. Some had to bbq themselves and others had it well prepared for them. Cocktails 🍹 where amazing as well.
Thank you all for standing by us and making it through the non and windy seasons.

June '22: With great grace we have been able to help the local Bonairean youth with new windsurfing gear. Very grateful for this moment. Since then we see the kids enjoying their gear and getting better and faster! Keep pushing. 💪 Proud of you all.
