Hyped on this one - Paradise Recreation Plaza just won the ‘Park of the Year’ award at the Parks & Leisure Australia SA/NT awards 2024!

Paradise is a north eastern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is nearby the Torrens River and popular walking and bicycle commuting paths to the CBD.

Paradise Recreation Plaza was a renewal of an existing space to improve flow, connectivity and activation. We were engaged as part of the project team to conduct community consultation, design and planning services. Community feedback desired the design to include interesting dirt jump sections, return line and an asphalt pump track. Community feedback showed 90% were in favour of what we designed.

Our design catered mostly for beginner and intermediate users with skill development lines throughout the space for increased enjoyment. The design intent was to have seamless integration to and from the pump track to the skate park. Something truly unique for the area.

This was a joint effort, thanks to the team for having us and we look forward to the next one - Campbelltown City Council (SA) JPE Design Studio Convic LCS Landscapes ✌️

This is your facility, look after it and it will look after you. Please be mindful of the plants and landscaping in and around the facility. We have left un-planted sections for easy exits to the return pathways.

Progress on Overport Bike Park is moving forward nicely. We have been busy on the tools getting the jump section roughly shaped up, ready for a top coat to reduce maintenance.

We know you’re itching to ride this, but remember this is a construction site and riding when it is not ready only holds up the opening of this facility. Please be patient!

A reminder for those that do not know - Surrons / Motorbikes / Electric or Motorised vehicles of any kind are strictly prohibited to use these type of facilities. These high powered vehicles damage the facility significantly.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback at the Draft Design Consultation. We had a lot of positive results with tweaks and changes requested. We listened and made changes to suit your requests. Here are the final concept designs for Diamond Creek BMX Trails.

There is something here for all skill levels and future progression, including a combined use wall ride and shipping container storage unit for crucial maintenance of the space.

This is your facility, so please look after it and it will look after you. If you can avoid walking through the garden beds that would be awesome. This will avoid any potential damages to the plants hand planted by our mates over element garden design and construction

We are having a break on this project now as a result of poor site and weather conditions. These conditions won’t allow us to test ride or lay the final riding surface until it warms up. We’ll be back in spring to get that under way.

Construction is well underway at the Overport Bike Park Project in Frankston, Victoria. Due to some poor ground and soil conditions (grey soil in images) we’ve had a few hold ups. It’s nothing we can’t overcome and we are working through this with Council. Weather has been good to us so far. Stoked!

Here are a few progress shots of how we’re tracking. We start building up the pump track next week, stay tuned for updates!

One of our banner mesh panels has disappeared here at Overport Park in Frankston VIC. We’re not sure what the culprits are going to do with it but it would be good if it was returned.

We are a small business trying to build you great facilities and when this sort of thing happens, it’s really disappointing. We then have to pay for it to replace anything - yay. If anyone knows anything, please let us know. Reward if found.

How To - Tarp

Last but not least on our ‘How To’ video series is How to - Tarp 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒑 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈? The tarping of your facility protects elements and features from weather conditions. This works in two ways - During the winter months (off-peak season), tarping prevents your features from eroding and getting too wet. Without a tarp it can cause erosion and uneven surfaces from the rain and potential breakdown or collapse if they become waterlogged. When tarps are taken off, you are left with the same surface you covered it with, reducing maintenance or repair of ruts and erosion or worse. In the summer months (peak season) these work in the opposite way by preventing your feature from drying out rapidly and keeping the moisture in ready for that next water and riding session. This also protects from the harsh sun conditions and in most cases can cause the tarp to generate condensation under the tarp to naturally wet the feature when not in use. It is always recommended when removing the tarp and weights to safely place it away from the riding paths or in a safe place nearby. This is usually between the feature or behind it. Tarps can also be installed in a way to be rolled up and stored at the back of a feature for easy re-application after your ride. In most cases it turns dusty and organically deteriorates into uneven and unsmooth surfaces, take-offs and landings. In order to keep rider’s safe and happy, they need a smooth, fast and compact riding surface. Watering keeps the dust down, improves the compaction as you ride (aka blue groove) and retains it’s shape and smoothness. Watering is the best way to get the most from your facility.
