The Northern Territory will introduce strict border controls from 4pm Tuesday 24th March. Anyone arriving from interstate or overseas will have to quarantine for 14 days with an exception for those providing goods and essential services during the coronavirus pandemic. This includes NT residents.
For our company this means that we will operate tours on Monday 23rd March and Tuesday 24th March until this situation changes.

Police say a 46-year-old female hosted a social gathering with over ten people in attendance, while a 63-year-old man was fined for having 19 people at his home. The third person, a 38-year-old woman was also fined for hosting a gathering of thirty people at her house despite being cautioned previously for a similar breach. All three people were issued with an infringement notice of $1,099.

Contact tracing is being undertaken for this flight.The woman is now under the care of Royal Darwin Hospital.All 28 cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Territory are related to international or interstate travel, with no cases of community transmission. Another man in his 50s became unwell while in self-quarantine after returning from the United Kingdom. A woman in her 50s travelled to South America and became unwell while in self-quarantine. Under national medical guidelines, contact tracing these flights is not required due to the delay between their return to Darwin and becoming unwell.

The first man flew from Sydney to Darwin on flight VA 1351 on Friday 20 March 2020. The second man travelled on flight QF 838 from Melbourne to Darwin on Wednesday 25 March 2020. NT Public Health will contact travellers on those flights who had been seated close to the men.

Eight Territorians have now tested positive for COVID-19, including a man being treated in the New South Wales (NSW) health system.

The man, aged in his 60s, was a passenger on the Ruby Princess cruise ship and had stayed in Sydney after becoming unwell.He is being monitored by NSW health authorities.As he is a resident of the Territory, the manโs diagnosis will be recorded in the NTโs COVID-19 statistics.This brings the official number of NT residents diagnosed with COVID-19 to six. The govt is widening the criteria for corona virus testing with a new category called โSuspect casesโ. Besides people whoโve returned from overseas or had contact with a confirmed case within 14 days, the following people now qualify for a test:
โช๏ธCruise ship passengers and crew whoโve travelled in the 14 days prior to illness.
โช๏ธ ๐จ๐ฃ๐๐๐ง๐: Testing will be expanded to include hospitalised patients with fever and acute respiratory symptoms of an unknown cause, at the discretion of the treating clinician.

Most elective surgeries will be cancelled to allow hospitals to prepare for a major outbreak of coronavirus. From midnight tonight all elective surgery, other than category one and urgent category two cases, will be suspended. It applies to operations in public and private hospitals.The decision was agreed to by the State and Territory leaders in conjunction with the Federal Government.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the cancellations are based on the advice of the expert medical panel. โ[It will] allow the preservation of resources including personal protective equipment and allow health services to prepare for their role in the COVID-19 outbreak,โ he said. ๐จ๐ฃ๐๐๐ง๐: National Cabinet has agreed to extend the deadline for the suspension of semi urgent Category 2 and 3 elective surgeries at private hospitals to 11.59pm on 1 April 2020.

The Northern Territory strict border controls are now in place. - Anyone arriving from interstate or overseas will have to self-isolate for 14 days. Australian Defence Force members will assist with the checkpoints in the NT.- Please note: Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania have also announced border controls.
