Eventing Clinic & Derby Day all done 🐴
Starting at 9am Saturday and finishing up 3pm today, we ran all grades with over 175 competitors and clinic riders, some even riding three horses.. 🐴 🐴 🐴

Thanks for braving the weather at the clinic and cold over the weekend. 🌧️ 🥶

Thanks to all the volunteers over the course of the day, parents & members for the food, judging, timing, pole pickup set up & pack up.

Congratulations to our visitors & members for participating and enjoying the day and supporting each other.

The Ballarat Pony Club extends its heartfelt appreciation to the City of Ballarat for their generous support through the Community impact Grant Program (CIPG).

This invaluable assistance has enabled us to undertake the research, development, and production of our comprehensive 2024-34 Master Plan. This plan, consisting of a succinct summary document complemented by an in-depth background document, has been made possible through the funding provided by the City of Ballarat.

The Master Plan holds significant importance for the future trajectory of the Ballarat Pony Club, serving as a strategic blueprint for our growth and development in the coming years. It is through initiatives like the CIGP that community organisations like ours are empowered to realise our vision and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of our community.

Thank you to our members, partners and grounds users who have contributed by completing surveys, part of discussion groups and helping shape our future as a great club for all.

Sun ☀️ was out yesterday to enjoy the May Rally ..
Mother’s Day flowers for our special mums 🌸 and fundraising awareness for Do it For Dolly Day with fab. blue cupcakes made by the members..
Ariel Halford from Youth Thrive Alumni our guest speaker, spoke about bullying and feelings, and gave us some strategies to help when we are feeling sad, worried, anxious or just troubled with life ..she was brilliant and engaged the youngest to the oldest in the audience. ☀️ 🐴 🌸 ❤️

We love having grounds users but please, all users need to book in at least 48 hours before, it's unrealistic to expect our volunteers to be doing bookings twice a day everyday .

How much fun ! Our fundraising trivia family night had 140 members and their guests competitively, with a smile, spend a hilarious evening dancing, air 🎸 guitaring, coin tossing, singing 🎶, laughing and silently (some not so quietly) answering the Trivia questions .. it was a great night for the Pony Club Community raising money to finish our new Show Jumping arena which will be used to warm up for competitions and as it will be fully fenced will be great for the younger new riders on lead to be in an enclosed safe area.. because sometimes those little ponies have a mind of their own 🐴 😫.

We also held our AGM. A new committee was elected and will be representing our members for the next year, supporting all riders, encouraging envolvement, mentoring between the seniors and juniors and just having a positive good time as a pony club. We welcome the new committee…

You don’t need to be any good (maybe only one person on the table does) but a good fun night, laughing, chatting and playing together; something that has nothing to do with ponies.. Get the family & friends together for a great night out!

Bring: A plate of Nibbles for your table (no food provided)
Drinks are at Bowling Club Prices.

We're excited to have our water jump repair and remodelling almost finished.

A massive thank to Will Folkes, Paul Stephens and Frank Armeni for all your hard work in getting this work done.

At this stage it's not usable, but will finished this coming week.

It will be fenced off until its finished, but if the fence is down for some reason PLEASE DONT RIDE THROUGH IT.

A big thankyou to all the people who donated to the Go Fund Me this wouldn't have been possible without your support.

Can all grounds users please leave your yards clean, put any manure on the manure piles. All yards were clean on Thursday night and this morning quite a number of them have poo.

Lovely to get positive feedback from those that were able to use the grounds to evacuate horses. Thanks to Ballarat Trotting Club for bringing hay and feed in for those who needed it.

I would sincerely like to thank BPC for allowing those who felt the need to move horse(s), during the recent fire activities, to use their facilities.
We were very grateful for this opportunity and respectfully left our yards and camp areas clean and tidy.
Everyone was pleasant and helped each other out.

For those bringing horses to the grounds when you arrive, please email the yard numbers and a contact number to

When you arrive you can't turn left toward pony club on to Winter St - it's blocked off because that Vic Park entrance is where the fire trucks will come out.
You have to go down to Park St (Market hotel on the corner) and turn left and come back up to Winter St that way.

Our grounds will be open on Tuesday ahead of the predicted bad weather of Wednesday.
If you leave horses at the grounds please email [email protected] with the yard number/s and a contact number once you have arrived and found a yard in case we need to contact you.

The grounds are for evacuation purposes only not riding.
Please clean your yard/s when you leave by putting all manure on the pool pile near the water trough.
We are community group of volunteers that manage the grounds in these situations and your help is appreciated.
Rubbish bins are available for rubbish so please utilise them.

As its a total fire ban day the grounds are open for evacuations. There are safe yards and water available. If possible please leave your name and number with the horses or message us the yard numbers they are in in case we need to contact you.

The Pony Club gates will be unlocked for any emergency evacuations tomorrow for the region and beyond.

The yards can be utilised for anybody evacuating their properties for horses and ponies.

This picture made my day, this is me this morning with my pony club instructor Peter Gill. We hadn't seen each other for 30 years but he has followed my career and the Ballahowe horses from his now home in Perth. He stopped in today on his road trip holiday to catch up in person. It was fabulous to have the chance to thank him in person for the opportunities he gave me and my friends at pony club all those years ago and for taking the time back then to share his knowledge with a bunch of kids on pretty average ponies, he helped us make a team of 4 dressage team for the state events and it's one of my favourite pony club memories. So a shout out to the Peter's of the world who never stop supporting the kids they helped start out in their horsey journey, even if they are now pony club mums themselves!

Ballarat Pony Club is super excited to be welcoming our members back as they register this year... kicking off with our member camp this weekend.

Ballarat Pony Club is an inclusive welcoming club, providing opportunities for members and their families to learn, have a positive, fun horse experience and meet new people, we are nestled in the heart of Ballarat town and Victoria Park.

Some feedback we received from the 2023 user and member survey (In preparation for the development of our Master Plan):

The development of the BPC Master Plan is nearing completion, thank you to all those who contributed - watch this space for some exciting plans.

If you were considering joining us from an on-lead rider, no experience horse family through to a highly competitive senior rider you are all welcome! Some things you can expect as a member;
Member January Camp
Membership and access to attend (1st Sunday of each month) BPC Rallies including all insurances.
Ability to compete as a BPC Member with competitive support from other members and experts.
Access to our BPC Uniform
Excellent 5 Star competitive grounds including Dressage Arenas, Show Jumping Arenas and Jumps and level 2* - PC Grade 6 XC course.
Small rally groups – maximum 6 riders per group.
Excellent instructors at each rally across many disciplines.
Varied disciplines at each rally - on lead through to highly competitive riders, eventing, games, tetrathlon, pairs and musical riding.
Expert assistance through the BPC Network for horse/ rider related queries or assistance (loading onto float, feeding, competitions etc)
Closed Member Only Facebook Group for communication.
First Aid personnel and equipment for safety at each rally.
Access for extended families to spectate and participate at rallies (as long as they have registered as an adult supporter)
Strong volunteer membership consistently improving and maintaining grounds with a great social vibe.
Heavily discounted access to the full use of the grounds year round. (excluding closed periods for events and/or no access due to maintenance/weather events)
