The oring on the left came out of a new service kit and didn't notice the size difference.
On attempting to tune I had issues and had to disassemble and found that the two orings on the poppet were a different size.

Was resolved by bringing out the Conshelf 22.

While working in at Divers Den today I came across this issue.
The thread on the back low pressure port is worn and the hose even though it still screws in is a sloppy fit.
My question is, should the body be replaced?

Here's another scary equipment malfunction.
This 360° swivel has failed after only a month of service and was fitted new. I do not recommend this product as in my opinion it is a poor quality copy of the proven and reliable Omni Swivel.
It maybe a quarter of the price but doesn't come close in quality.

Today I had a Zeagle 1st and 2nd stage in with excessive Interstage Pressure, test gauge went to 13.8 bar before I shut it off and this set is used as a ho**ah reg with the IP set at 9.0 bar, the minimum pressure specified by Zeagle.
The cause of this is the ingress of water into the 1st stage with the result being a damaged HP seat.
The effect of the water has water blasted the seat causing the sealing edge to become feathered.
Water was fresh so reg had been washed without dust cap on and I can't emphasise enough how important it is to dry and fit dust cap before washing.
This reg had a full service in June so only a month of use and now this damage plus expense.

Hi all, here's today's surprise.
Pic is of an older BCD and it has had the dump retainers disintegrate leaving it destined for the scrap pile.
Yes I can repair it with Delrin fittings from overseas but the cost of repair is prohibitive as by the time I add labour it ends up cheaper to buy a new BCD. Shame it is in as new condition.

This is a purge cover lock on a Cressi Compact 2nd stage which has the retaining lip broken off.
Reportedly an isolated incident peculiar to The Tropics and has been reported by two well known repair facilities.
Twelve were received as replacements for current and potentially future issues and all covered at no cost to consumer or service centres.
Thanx Scott@Cressi for your ongoing support.

Well another day spent "on the tools" at Divers Den and a break from servicing at home.
Had a play with two new tools that Matt just purchased to more accurately tune and function check regulators.
They are the 1st stage flow meter and a Pro Check Water Leak Analyser and precision cracking meter.
Fun times.

Here's an air barrel out of a Scubapro S600, renowned for cracking but this one has an extra crack which I've never seen before.
The cracked barrel according to Scubapro service isn't really an issue but in general industry replace them when found cracked.

01/07/2024

Just when I thought the SCUBA service Industry had lifted it's game I find this.
Circled is three orings which have been incorrectly fitted to Aqualung Mikron.
The two orings on the left in the circle are the incorrect size and are the same size as the LP reg swivel ones.
The larger one on the right in the circle was fitted to a HP port plug and is normally fitted to the LP hose 1st. stage end.
Now if you the technician are looking at the schematics and the cheat sheet that comes with the kits these mistakes wouldn't happen.
Though these orings are encapsulated by the 1st stage body, hoses and plugs, they could over time become stressed due to the extra tension on them and fail.
Techs please take more care, read yor service guidelines, schematics and the service kit reference guides.
