China Beach, Da Nang, I was still in the army and I’m wearing PINK …it was September 1992. I’d just been offered the job of Tour Escort/Interpreter on a pioneering Australian travel company.

I was on a language refresher training trip as a client on the very first Rail Tour of Vietnam run by Dorothy Button’s “Vietnam Ventures” based in Melbourne Australia. It lasted 14 wonderful days and gave me the confidence to tender my resignation from the army after more than 29 years and follow my gut instinct by becoming a tour es**rt on Dorothy’s puffing billy linked to the “Reunification Express”.
I’m still at it some 32 years later
(with FRANKO’S since 2003) …It’s been a hoot! 😎🇦🇺🇻🇳👍

Tomorrow (14 Nov) I’ll be updating the FRANKO’S website with
New Tour Prices for March and April 2023.

Instead of 5 nights by train our new March/April itineraries
will have only 3 ...plus 2 internal flights AND 2 extra hotel stays.

No changes to destinations visited, everything included as per

From Ocean Grove in Australia to Vietnam for a look at restaurants and hotels …both old favourites and a few new openings. No clients with me - just my long time national guide Mister Zen 😎.
This quick post is a catch up of some of the scenes along our route: Sai Gon to Nha Trang (we took a Sleeper Bus👀), then Hoi An and finally Ha Noi.

Vietnam is open! They are waiting for the tourists to come back soon!

I’ll fill in details on the pics when I include comments later today.

I’ve got a tad of catch-up to do …watch this space👀😎

I’m now in Ha Noi …my mate Zen flew home to Sai Gon after Hoi An and headed for the orchards down on the Mekong area. We are getabouts! 🍺🍺

Vietnam is planning to resume international flights from December 15. The country's Ministry of Transport has proposed the pilot resumption of flights carrying international passengers to Vietnam.
