Wellness Wednesdays - Daffodil Day Edition ๐ผ๐งโโ๏ธ๐
Pictured are clients from our Community Cancer Class yesterday. Of course our beautiful PT Dea made sure our clients each left with a beautiful Daffodil, signifying the journey each of our clients has made through Cancer.
For more information on Daffodil Day and what it represents, please read below.
For more information on our Community Cancer classes please visit the link in the comments. To anyone impacted by Cancer, and the loved one's supporting those with Cancer - we see you, we pray for you and we continue to hope for more scientific breakthroughs to stop the lives lost to this disease.
On this day, Australians all over the country come together and, for all that cancer takes, we give hope. We give to support people impacted by cancer and we give to support cancer research that will save lives.
In 2023, Australians gave a bunch for Daffodil Day, raising $2.5 million towards lifesaving cancer research. This year, we would love to have your vital support once more.
We know that almost 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85, so it takes all of us to give hope for better treatments and better outcomes. The more hope we give, the more lives we can save. That's why we're encouraging you to give it your all by registering to fundraise or by donating this Daffodil Day.
Daffodil Day 2024 is Thursday, 22 August but you can get involved and help support this special day any time throughout the month.

PUSH UP CHALLENGE FOR MENTAL HEALTH - FINAL UPDATE๐
16,590 PUSH UPS! ๐ช
You may have recalled our latest update regarding PCC's Push Challenge for Mental Health. We were sitting on over 9,000 push ups, but have been able to SMASH that out, with a total number of 16,590 push ups.
We would like all to thank all the staff who participated in the challenge and to Jayden for taking a lead in this campaign and placing a spotlight on this incredible cause.
While the vibes have been high as we undertake this challenge, the reason behind that number, (3249) has never left our minds and hearts. Mental health and suicide impacts us all in some way and one life lost to mental health is one too many.๐ซถ

Meet Our Team looks a little different this World Refugee Day!๐
We wanted to recognise the diversity of our ever growing team this Refugee Week - and to acknowledge the richness and value refugees continue to bring to Australia, and to our team here at Primary Care Connect!
DID YOU KNOW?! - June 20 is World Refugee Day - World Refugee Day shines a light on the rights, needs and dreams of refugees, helping to mobilize political will and resources so refugees can not only survive but thrive. While it is important to protect and improve the lives of refugees every single day, international days like World Refugee Day help to focus global attention on the plight of those fleeing conflict or persecution. Many activities held on World Refugee Day create opportunities to support refugees.
On this day, we sincerely thank the members of our team that have come from all over the world to help us bring the highest quality programs and services to our wider community. We stand with you and applaud the courage of you and your families in your plight for freedom. ๐ซถ๐๐
We would like to remind our multicultural community that we have a range of services for refugees and migrants. For more information on how we might be able to support you and your families, please head to:

PUSH UP CHALLENGE FOR MENTAL HEALTH - UPDATE๐
You may recall that Primary Care Connect had entered the national Push Up challenge this year to raise much needed funds, and awareness, around mental health issues in Australia.
The total number of push-ups we were hoping to reach was 3249. The total number of lives lost in Australia in 2022 to mental health. With 10 days remaining in the challenge, we have SMASHED that number and are currently sitting on over 9,000 push ups in total so far!๐ช
While the vibes have been high as we undertake this challenge, the reason behind that number, (3249) has never left our minds and hearts. Mental health and suicide impacts us all in some way and one life lost to mental health is one too many.๐ซถ
To Jayden - thank you for leading this campaign and placing a spotlight on this incredible cause.๐
For more information on the challenge, please head to:

When you are talking about lives, 3249 is a big number. And sadly, it's also the number of Australian's we tragically lost in 2022 to suicide. ๐ค
And this is why The Pushup Challenge 2024 is so close to our hearts here at Primary Care Connect. Too many lives continue to be lost to suicide and in its wake, families and loved one's are left in turmoil.
Kudos to our P.T Jayden who has rallied our entire team to jump on board and raise much needed funds for the organisations who support mental health and wellbeing. ๐ซถOver 150,000 Aussies have already joined in - ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?!
Check out THE PUSHUP CHALLENGE page, or register yourself, school or group at:
https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/home
The PCC team will be push-upping, squatting, and core working for the length of the campaign, each day at 3:00pm. Feel free to come in and join in the fun with us!

Last year we interviewed a very special client of ours - Chris Blizard. ๐ซถ
We were introduced to Chris last year as he sought help for an addiction he had developed over a lot of years to synthetic marijuana.
We profiled Chris for our "End Overdose" campaign in August last year and it was one of the most popular posts we've ever published.
Fast forward almost 8 months and Chris is back with a life update! Please take the time to watch and listen - and if you, a loved one, or someone you know is experiencing addiction or harmful substance use, please don't hesitate to call Primary Care Connect on 03 5823 3200.
Please also remember that Lifeline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be contacted on 13 11 14.
Chris, we couldn't be more proud of the path you've travelled. Thank you for trusting our team with your recovery and healing journey, and thank you for being so willing to share your story in the hope that it may help somebody else. You are a CHAMPION! ๐ช
โน๏ธWHAT IS SYTHETIC MARIJUANA?โน๏ธ
Synthetic cannabinoids (also referred to as synthetic cannabis) are a new psychoactive substance (NPS) that was originally designed to mimic or produce similar effects to cannabis. It has been sold online since 2004.
However, synthetic cannabinoids are not a synthetic form of cannabis and do not actually mimic the effects of THC โ they produce a number of negative effects that are not caused by cannabis.
For this reason, the terms synthetic cannabis, or synthetic marijuana, are incorrect.
Symptoms and side affects of using synthetic marijuana can be extremely severe and include increased heart rate, agitation and anxiety, psychosis, breathing difficulties and in some cases seizures, stroke and even death.
