Day 2: Tokyo
After breakfast, we first head to the Imperial Palace of Tokyo – the residence of the royal family – and visit the “double bridge” (Nijubashi) over the moat. Afterwards travel to the Tokyo Skytree. With a height of 634 metres, it is a broadcasting center, restaurant, and observation tower in Sumida. Proceed to Senso-ji, an ancient Buddhist temple. It is Tokyo’s oldest temple, and one of the most significant temples. The Nakamise-dori is a street on the approach to the temple, which houses many traditional shops for souvenirs. See the Meiji Shrine which was built in dedication to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. The original shrine was destroyed during World War II; the current one was re-built in 1958. This area is covered by an evergreen forest that consists of over 120,000 trees of 365 different species, which were donated by people from all parts of Japan when the shrine was established. Later we shall visit the famous Ginza. (B, L, D)
Day 3: Tokyo ~ Hakone
After breakfast we shall head to the World’s famous Mt. Fuji 5th Station. The mountain has been selected as a “cultural” rather than a “natural” heritage site. As per UNESCO, Mount Fuji has inspired artists and poets and been the object of pilgrimage for centuries. 5th Station is a great place for viewing the entire mountain. Visit the 8 Springs of Mt. Fuji (Oshino Hakkai). Afterwards visit the Nagasaki Peace Park – established in 1955, commemorating the atomic bombing of the city on August 9, 1945 during World War II. At the park's north end is the 10-meter-tall Peace Statue created by sculptor Seibo Kitamura of Nagasaki Prefecture. The statue's right hand points to the threat of nuclear weapons while the extended left hand symbolizes eternal peace. The mild face symbolizes divine grace and the gently closed eyes offer a prayer for the repose of the bomb victims' souls. (B, L, D)
Day 4: Hakone ~ Nagoya
After breakfast head to Fuji-Q Highland Theme Park. Their signature roller-coaster, Fujiyama, once was the world’s tallest coaster at 259ft! Oversee Mt Fuji from the theme park. Visit Atsuta Shrine. The shrine's Bunkaden, or treasure hall, houses over 4,000 relics, which include 174 Important Cultural Properties and a dagger that is a designated national Treasure of Japan. In the afternoon we shall visit a jewelry duty free shop and enjoy the magnificent view of Lake Ashi. (B, L, D)
Day 5: Nagoya ~ Kyoto ~ Osaka
After breakfast visit the Temple of Golden Pavilion (Kinkaju-ji), or Deer Garden Temple (Rokuon-ji), a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto. The garden complex is an excellent example of the Muromachi period garden design. The correlation between buildings and its settings were greatly emphasized during this period. It was a way to integrate the structure within the landscape in an artistic way. The building is topped with a bronze phoenix ornament. Visit Osaka Castle Park. This castle is one of Japan's most famous, and played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century of the Azuchi-Momoyama period. This evening and afterwards stop by the famous Shinsaibashi shopping arcade and Dotonbori – a place filled with a variety of different kinds of food. (B, L)
Day 6: Osaka
Today, the entire day will be at your own leisure to enjoy. (B)
Day 7: Osaka~ Home
