This beautiful mural, commissoned by and painted by local illustrator Jason Waithe, can be found in Hastings along the Boardwalk. A stunning tribute to the island and her people! 💙💛

– Let’s learn more about St. John’s Parish Church, one of Barbados’ historic landmarks on the eastern side of the island! 🇧🇧

👉 Be sure to look for the sundial in the churchyard! St. John’s Parish Church boasts one of only two still intact sundials on the island. The other is located at Codrington College.

👉 The church's cemetary is the final resting place of Ferdinando Paleologus, a descendant of Emperor Constantine the Great, the last Christian Emperor of Constantinople. He died in Barbados in 1678, after living here for over 20 years. Former Barbadian Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. David Thompson is also buried here.

👉 The church is known for its ornate woodwork, and an example of this is the beautifully carved pulpit inside, which is said to be made of a variety of woods: manchineel, oak, pine, locust, ebony and Barbadian mahogany.

Fun fact: the Morgan Lewis Windmill is the largest and only complete sugar windmill still standing in the Caribbean! This historic site also offers a fantastic view of the East Coast and is a great photo opp. 📸
